so what happened to T & T ? did they just sucumb to the pressures of legislation & high costs & just stop trading or were they bought out ?
chard trucks also had an ex T&T for shunt/yard work but think that has long been scrapped now.
any pics ?
something says i ve seen that chard truck lorry in the past . T&T just finnished and went to auction if i remember what the reason was im not sure i will make afew enquiries this week and let you know next weeekend . the auction was the same time as AGC of cullumpton im reckoning around early 2004 i think ,they had 2 ex stobart fh’s and the fl’s in the end . Nigel Board of exeter took over there work and some of the drivers. out of scope now what lorry do you drive ? my dad drives for ways he was in huntsworth friday morning talking to a mvf driver was that you ? hes called Keith drives fh DS51WAY . I work for daren wills of okehampton was in the burgandy ssc daf now in the plain white ssc daf. are you the one that always waves with the fm ? andrew
i think i can remember seeing a T&T in plain white with the T&T logo in red , but that must have been one of the last nearing their demise . also see a fair few of Boardys FH’s up at portbury, & if my memory seves me right Gregory’s bought out AGC buissiness ? but i dont think many drivers passed over to the brown side !
Hmmmm DS51WAY… not orange by any chance is it ? may know him to look at but rarely get the chance to talk but i’ll make a point of saying hello next time i see him .
Darren Wills…now there are some well turned out trucks , got to say that F he’s got is a bit special & yes thats me in the white FM globetrotter ,(see profile avtar) & it’s the last on the fleet, mine & another went back & i got lumbered with it compared to the other two she’s a bit of a dog with maybe another 2 months to go before it goes back to dawsons rentals.
yes it probably is me that waves as i not got a cb fitted in this one but then i’ll wave to anyone

Back in the eighties, we used to ge the Bampton cattle company lorries from Cullompton Devon, coming up to Knighton in Powys, cattle market. I think they were red wagons, don’t know if any of you remember them.
Cheers Dave.
I remember them Dave, I used to copy Red Rider on the CB quite often, I think they’re still about but I’m pretty sure the last couple of times I’ve seen them they’ve been on flat work. Always kept the lorries lovely & tidy.

Bampton are still about ! It used to be Keith and Martin running it but they split the company a few years back. Keith run two Scanias ( as Bampton Cattle Transport) on a mix of stock and flat work, and Martin runs about 5 Scanias and a Volvo in his own name doing mostly cattle , they still share a yard afaik

I saw Shaun today in South Molton, he’s got the new one on the road
I’ve recently found quite a few old negatives of trucks that I took years ago.
I worked as a fitter for Gary Pook in Tiverton during the 90’s,he took over the trucks from Westleigh quarry and started SMW haulage. There were four Volvo FL7’s with SR62 boxes. When Gary got them we tarted them up a bit and fitted easy sheats, this is one of them about to go back on the road. This was taken in 97 when they were already 10 years old
Does Gary Pook still run trucks? And if he does what are they?

I’m not 100% but it could be 2 new trailers, but they haven’t got them yet !
Super pictures fellas, i used to live in Tiverton, and if anyone reads my user name they may recognise me, born and bred there, i used to go to all the Heathcoat schools, and shared the same class as Gary Pook, i used to drive coaches for Ernie Hill and used to park them in Blundells Road Lorry Park, so was chuffed and could relate to a lot of the pictures of trucks parked there. I am now running a B&B in Scotland with my wife but will be soon returning to Tiverton as soon as possible as we have other business interests in Devon.
Keep up the pictures please
