I’m dreading it, but I can’t remember the story of the “tangerines” honest put me out of my misery.
Is that Dorothy Bowmans husband, I did a little bit for Dorothy in the mid eighties when I was between jobs although I never met him

No I think she only had a 2300 Daf and a Bedford TM rigid curtainsider leading mainly out ov Wavins. I once drove a 3300 but that belonged to a “friend” of hers
Dorothy Bowman was Mayor of Newton Aycliffe Last year
Bill
although it looks quite smart, i remember all the problems you had with that daf 3300
you would have thought it would have been very embarrassing for daf, i wonder if dents got any
compensation for all the down time that it had with this motor
alan
Daf 3300! Even the radio packed in. I took it to Daf Trucks to get a new one fitted, and while I was sat in the ‘‘drivers lounge’’,I saw the wagon disapearing out of the gates. When it came back, I asked them where it had been. ‘‘Had to take it for a test drive’’ was the reply. One and a half hours to test a radio! That was bad enough, but they had done it with my Tachograph card in. What a liberty. Anything could have happened.

Go on then…2500
Have you any photos of the 2800 you had Bill? I remember Dad had it for a week not long after it came to Dents (you must have been on holiday) and he frightened the stuff out of me by putting the nearside electric window down when I was leaning against it going past the car auctions at Brotherton.
Darren.

Aye she used to wander into Wavins on a Friday hair all newly permed to a lot of muttering and a few whistles. She once brought me pay packet to the house around easter time I remember it like yesterday, she had an easter egg on the front seat of her red subaru and kept taking a bite out of it, never offered me any! she always paid a tenner bonus. She came in and made herself at home talked to the missus for ages,
Dorothy used to do her own shunting in wavins including building & breaking down cages. they reckon nowt flash to work for but seemed nice enough, she let one of the lads I worked with at Armstrongs her & Ray`s apartment in Spain for a ho;iday no charge
good grief bill, just look at the state of those dirty wheels on that daf,
you never saw any of roly,s motors with wheels like that
alan
Must have just come out of Normans, thinking about caffs, remember when we used to go into Macks cafe and leave the keys in the ignition.
Mac would keep moving the wagons up to the front of the lorry park so that newcomers could get parked. Imagine that now, some ■■■■■ would have your motor away before you could order your breakfast.
Those were the days.
Bill
i can never remember him moving the dude’s,
everyone else’s but not his
