Limey:
Hmm. Are you not the same chap who also thinks the twin splitter was a bad gearbox?[/quoteNot me the twin splitter was a great box one of the best, its the only thing in a Foden/ERF thats any good and before you start i like a ■■■■■■■ ok
For me the only thing that was crap was the twin splitter installation in a Foden.
The cables stretched, then the gears do not select cleanly. Yet the same box in an ERF, Sudden Accident or MAN was superb
curnock:
just cant understand why they ditched this marque ?,somebody tell me this aint a fantastic motor !
Ok Curnock, you got it, the Foden is NOT a fantastic motor & it never has been, they deserved to be consigned to the history books years ago, they are without question the ugliest lorries Britain has ever seen, all you lot north of Watford Gap have some weird fondness for hastily cobbled together pieces of crap & if the ■■■■ they let out of their gates wasn’t bad enough on its own, they are also responsible for those other abortions, ERF, the people of Cheshire should stick to making Cheese & Salt because they made a right balls up of the lorry manufacturing lark
and you lot south of that border you call watford are far too pampered
with ya tassles and all those lights.are you all short sighted

Not us down here its you lot doing the job in [zb] lorries that should have been put out to grass 30 years ago and how can you say they was good NO they are not
See you not sod all about what are good lorries and just because its made in England don’t make it any good as you all seem to think so who’s short sighted you lot are
So now that they’re gone you have no crap to drive so why don’t you pack it in and go back on the dole because thats what you all do best other then moan and let us rich and pampered southeners support you lot

Where was it they made those Scammels? was it North or South of Watford
mate of mine got top of range v8 scania 150tonner.when blows a diff my erf 150tonner goes to rescue dam site beter truck than scania. and i love scania trucks had first 620 in uk my erf built strong as ox had front wheels of road 4 ft in air pulling 800 komatsu face shovel carnt break it
Scammels from watford bags of crap but gone a long time ago now and i bet you think they was good
And liking an ERF over a Scania mad and i now the new Scania’s are not as nice as the old ones but its still miles ahead of any ERF/Foden and i bet you lot still think the Vauxhall Victor is a good car
Davey68, at last, someone with some sense!
What is it with this lot & their Fodens, ERFs, Scammels & Atkis, every last one that rolled out the factory gates was a piece of crap, they were noisy, uncomfortable, ugly pieces of plastic rubbish without exception, they must all be off their nuts & as for that clown who would take an ERF over a Scania, well words fail me.
I suppose they all still take a dump in the outhouse, wipe their arse on newspaper & wash with carbolic soap in a tin bath of cold water once a month whether they need it or not! Northeners, no class at all! An ERF over a Scania, still can’t believe that I heard that, the man needs to be put into one of those padded rooms before he does himself anymore harm!

FPMSL.
Still sitting on the fence then NMM??
Come on, say what you really think!!
I find it hard to counter the anti-English brigade’s arguements, much as I’d like to.
I suppose it is the fact that in earlier days the job was fun and the vehicles we drove will be forever associated with that.
Despite the fact that I loved the first F88 I drove (not true about the first Scania 80 ) you’ll never hear me say a bad word about Atkis, Fodens, ERFs and Scammells.

There you go, my point exactly, look at the state of that shed, it’s got an axle nailed on the back of it, a plastic cab with another bit of plastic gaffer taped on to it to make a hi roof sleeper, what a hideous monstrosity.
They didn’t do any better when Paccar made em stop playing with fibreglass & gave em the metal Daf 75/85 cab, what’s the first thing they did, yeah you guessed, they got an angle grinder out, chopped the roof off & bodged a bit of fibreglass on top to make a rival for a Globetrotter/Topline/Space cab etc, what an asbortion that 1st Alpha was & you wonder why Paccar shut the place!

you’ve got it in one
dont like them??
why dont you start your own thread slagin them off.
or you could count the pop rivits on your kenworth cab
kenworth now theres another piece of junk, dont get me wrong i liked the cat c15 motor and eventually the fuller 13 speed.
but even though im not a fan of volvo engines this junker im piloting does have a nice cab and makes the kenworth like something from the 1960s.
now a ■■■■■■■ in a volvo is what i would like.
your a V8 scania man and there’ll be no truck to tempt you away from them.
the sound of K40 headin east !
yes i do miss that truck.
my erf will go over windy hill at 35 mph at 90 ton bet a v8 scania dosent wrong gearing in scania. i pass 44 ton trucks all day long between 65 and 100 ton good old 525 ■■■■■■■ been tweeked a bit still does 7.6 to gallon not bad for a shed as you think my mates scania 3 to gallon.just to look good
