C+H quickmix, up at Bittereing Near E.Dereham used to run a whole fleet of beat up foden 4000 series 26 tonners. They may well still have a few. Maybe one of the norfolk lads could get few pics before they all fall apart?

just cant understand why they ditched this marque ?,somebody tell me this aint a fantastic motor !
It’s most likely one of the finest 8 wheelers in the land, however Paccar are the worlds most successful truck manufacturer because they put profitability first and work on commercial common sense. Although they could have doubtless continued to produce, and sell, Fodens for many years to come it was not as profitable as producing DAFs alone. The prestige of having the worlds oldest manufacturer in its ranks meant less to Paccar than maximising productivity at its Leyland Works.
They therefore had no hesitation in ceasing manufacture in Fodens 150th year.
Now if more British hauliers had behaved like Ian Bentley and Fodens had outsold DAF then the boot would possibly have been on the other foot and all output from Leyland would wear a kite badge on the front.
Hi
I have a question, we have a little forum as well in the netherlands and ofcorse we run a Photo topic to on this forum.
It’s a small forum with only 27 members so far.
Because i have worked for HSF ( Frederiks ) i have driven a lot to the UK and Scotland.
I have a special little place in my heart for the truck brand Foden and i wanna ask if it is alright to use these picture’s on our forum?
Can you please let me know?
I do not know if it is alright to place my forum name here and if it is not! then i ask the admins to remove the link.
Thanks in advance.

What are you lot on Foden was always a crap lorry and you lot are soft in the head for thinking otherwise.
Paccar did the right thing and should have done it earlier
dont talk so wet
Not talking wet old chap.
they was a bad lorry never made a good one and for some odd reason you lot love them why.
And before you start i’ve had my fair share of them over the years so i do know what i’m talking about unlike you lot on here with your Foden the great bollox
You cant please everyone all the time
I didnt have to serve my time on a 2 stick Foden or serve my time on an 8 wheeler, but I know plenty who did. Harry Barraclough will be talking to St Peter telling him what a great truck they were.
I drove a high roof Foden with a 400 CAT, that thing would eat pigeons, especially as I was only pulling Hygena boxes with it. The biggest fault was that it was double drive and on rubber so very difficult to get into some of the MFI stores.
I am surprised there are no pictures on here of H Campey & Sons from Selby. They ran almost all Fodens, but I saw a Scania in a cafe the other day

Hmm. Are you not the same chap who also thinks the twin splitter was a bad gearbox?
