Daily Commute and fuel costs

How much do you do?

I commute 15 miles each way a day. So 30 total more then I’d like but it’s not too bad.
My weekly fuel bill is usually like £15-20 tops and that’s with any other driving I do throughout the week.

I know some people do a 50 mile+ commute each way everyday though.
For me that’s nuts.
Or they may have a 20 mile commute each way but they have to go over Dartford bridge/tunnell twice a day.

If I was doing a 50 mile commute to work I’d have to be a tramper, doing that everyday is a bit much.

Never really bothered me much but now that fuel prices are getting ridiculous it has got me thinking…

90 mile there on a monday morning and dartford tunnel and 90 mile back on a friday with the bridge crossing. I use half a tank a week doing that journey.

Was 40 miles a day there and back, now 20 miles a day there and back. Car averages 20mpg, so isn’t exactly great.

What do you drive? Mine does 65mpg and I commute 20 mile each way 5x a week

I drive 19 mile on a Monday in to work and 19miles back Friday , I’ve done the 30mile each way every day 5 days a week never again
Gone from using £20 fuel a week to £15 a month :open_mouth:

I walk 3/4 of a mile there in the morning and 3/4 to 1 mile back depending if i go to sainsburys or the pub on the way home

My daily commute? Less than 10 minutes each way
I have an old shed of a motor that I filled with diesel a fortnight ago, I put
£66 worth in it
Last time I filled up was in March
Needless to say once it’s gone bang or fails it’s MOT I will be on my mountain bike

I have a 587 mile commute each way once a fortnight and average 45 mpg drivin within the speed limits most of the way …

I commute 1.5 miles each way. In decent weather I “cut the corner” by walking which drops it to about half a mile each way. £20 of petrol lasts me a month.

I have a 10 minute cycle ride to work but as said in another thread it’s a crap job I’m embarassed to do, despite the money. I’d rather cycle half hour each way a day or buy a car and earn £50 or so less a week than do what I do now.

I walk 10 metres from my House to where I park my truck!!

No way could i hack it doing that daily mate

I spent around 20 years of my working life doing a similar commute.Ironically I applied for loads of jobs requiring nights out based around the country with not living ‘locally’ to them usually being the second reason ( excuse ) for being turned down after the ‘experience’ issue. While I reached the conclusion then that the commuting costs issue was one of the attractions of distance/tramping nights away type work.

That’s not bad. Could you hack it daily though. :stuck_out_tongue:?

No way mate. Not daily i couldnt. Dont mind admitting it either

4.5 miles for me. MPG depends on how late I leave for work each day.

Going to hazard a guess that 109LWB drives a Landrover.
