Hi ■■■■■■■■ Gill,
Thanks for the info., re: Alan Glendinning and G. N. Glendinning.
I can not remember seeing any other wagons in N. G. Glendinning livery .
I undestand that Alan bought-out the fleet belonging to Bob Brewer , from Sedbergh, last year.

Sorry you , ( or your Fiat Punto ), won`t be able to make the trek onto Shap tonorrow.

Cheers, cattle wagon man.

I think he may have got rid of the Fiat punto and bought a 6 legger, he could turn up in this. :astonished: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Anything v7victor is better than my Punto!!

That would surely get me to Shap!!

Kindest regards

Westmorland ( now ■■■■■■■ ) lost one of the old school of hauliers with the passing of Fred Tuer.

" Tuer`s Motors " was a well- respected name in transport , and as a tribute to Fred , here is a
photograph of the Albion Chieftain , taken at Brough , Easter Weekend , a few years ago.

Thank you , cattle wagon man.

In addition to the Scania 8 wheeler, shown by dew at the top of this page , Gibsons of Kendal
own this Scania tractor unit. An ucluttered livery , as shown here , is the best method of advertisement.

Photographed (at work) at the ■■■■■■■ Steam Gathering , a couple of years ago.

Cheers, cattle wagon man.

This little gem of a Brewery Wagon was proudly displayed at a Vintage Rally in May 2011.
The Kirkby Lonsdale Brewery decided to promote their thirst-quenching product by way of
this 1975 Karrier Bantam.
Having owned a similar Bantam, I know that there will be no ultra-quick deliveries !!
A horse and dray would travel at around the same speed. :unamused:
Good beer though . :sunglasses:

Cheers, ( hic ! ) cattle wagon man.

And here’s two from the “other” Gibson in Kendal, Mark Gibson Distribution, better known as MGD. I’m not 100% sure on the relationship to Gibsons of Kendal but someone like CWM might. Most of MGD’s fleet is generally of smaller vehicles than GoKs, there’s only 1 Artic for MGD as far as I know, a DAF XF105.460, No pics of it yet sadly.

Hi dew,
Well,…I might know a little bit about Kendal area hauliers ,…but…not everything .

I have often wondered if the two " Gibson " firms might be related/connected in ways other than surname .
I can remember about 4 or 5 years ago that M.G.D. reduced his artic fleet after a haulage contract suddenly ceased,
but I can`t think which of the Kendal-based chilled -produce factories it was.

I hope this helps in solving your question.

Note the Kendal Crest on the cab side panels. I wonder if Dennis proudly wore this Crest on his
Kendal Grammar School blazer ? :unamused: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Cheers, cattle wagon man.

 Fair enough I wondered if you might know, besides the name and having hards practically back to back with each other on Mintsfeet.

We use MGD for servicing our vans so go in and out of there a bit, I’ll try to get a pic of the XF as it was tidy. Prior to that was an Iveco Stralis, and before that a V8 Actros.

A 3.5T of MGDs we sometimes borrow if they’re working on ours!

On the other side of the West Coast railway line from the (now) VOSA Testing Station and the former
Bewick haulage premises, is J.T. Leyland`s Storage & Distribution H.Q.

The DAF curtainsider was photographed in the yard , December 2011.

Look !!..there`s a well-preserved pothole that Dennis gave Mike years ago.

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

If the poxy Photobucket would function I’d put you a few shots up of the crests I had emblazoned on the cab tops of our Euro fleet CWM,a far better effort than the one you are “noting”,and unfortunately I didn’t attend Kendal Grammar school,my thre brothers did,but not me!! Cheers Dennis. :open_mouth:
