Hi georgeking,
Thanks for the feedback on Pickthalls of Cleator Moor. I had got the removals name close ,but not correct.
Thanks for putting it right. I had not realised the change of ownership . I cant place seeing T.H.B. running any cattle wagons, but W. Glencross of Abbeytown DID run a Magirus- Deutz 4 - wheeler and drawbar on livestock and flatwork in their latter years. Howard Pickthall ran Scanias 4 & 6 wheelers, continuing when son Stephen took over. When you mention J.J.Hope , I can remember one of Pickthalls drivers called Norman who left to start driving for Hopes. Anyone know where he is now ■■ Sorry, Ive no photos of J. Sharp & Son of Silecroft. Anyone help, please ?
Cheers, cattle wagon man.

BNFL TRANSPORT OLD AND NEW

I wouldnt mind gettin a start on there driving them MAN’s any driving jobs going? Altho I’d quite fancy that double drive shunter.
Any Carlisle lads remember Bob Phillips? This is his Volvo but he also had a 112.

This is the 112 taken down at Bartlett’s Transport at Bridgewater. Thats one of their Volvos behind.

Here’s a couple of old ‘uns from Athersmith. This was when they were based in Ulverston.

Also one for the west coast Marras’s one of Pickthalls from Cleator Moor

Also a final one specialy for Bewick one of Bradys Octopus’ I dont think I’ve added this one before. Its actually the Corgi diecast model which I detailed with the correct shaped diesel tank, sunvisor, headboard, sheet rack and drag. plus a sheeted load. Not up to Eric Possys standard I know but it is a la’al bit fidly when the truck is that small!

Cheers Bubbs,

Thanks to bubbleman for this brilliant photo of an usual combination of two of the best hauliers based in ■■■■■■■■

I am told that there are photos of Bewick’s units pulling Eddies Stobart’s trailers, drinks are on me if anyone can post a photo of it on here!

What about one of “fast eddies” pulling a Bewick Tautliner? But then I wouldn’t have allowed the Bewick “brand” to be contaminated,we were very, very, particular who we allowed to pull our trailers in any case!! And vice versa Bewicks were never that hard up for work that they would be reduced to providing traction at the uneconomic rates that “the fast one” operated for! Cheers(typing with one hand, the other is holding my nose!!) Bewick.PS your bar tab would be zero “george” as I know that Marra’s are not known for slinging their money about, unless they know what the outcome will be beforehand!!!

Hiya Stevie, superb shots of the Athersmiths new (old fashioned) motors! and a cracking model of the Brady Octopus and trailer, thanks! You should have put a low load of coil (Signode) strip on the outfit, and took the mudguards off the fron’t axle of the trailer. And stuck a pair of crossed size 9 boots in the passenger side windscreen( Franks, not mine you understand!) I always sat “bolt upright” and payed attetion to what Possy told me!! Cheers Dennis.

Here’s another yan for me Marras frae’ gods country! One of the F88’s we ran shot here when nearly new backing a load of W’ukinton rail onto Crooklands trailer park circa '76,niver saw any of Jeds wid rail on back then eh!

Possy was quite happy if you got your head down,he didn’t have to put up with any “back chat” so he could keep the pedal to the metal and concentrate on his driving!! If he got sick off the “ear ache” he would threaten to drop the trailer on the next Cafe and ■■■■ off and leave you with it!!! Or you could sit behind the headboard outside for a few mile!! I’ve heard that Frank spent a lot of time behind the headboard!! Cheers Dennis.
