no not going to mine the dump . there is still a lot of coal up here the coal board had 10 new sites ready drilled when they closed everything down

no not going to mine the dump . there is still a lot of coal up here the coal board had 10 new sites ready drilled when they closed everything down

Didn’t realise there was that much coal left,sounds like there’s as much again as what was extracted over the last 2 or 3 hundred years eh! I know a freight train driver who regularly brings 2000 ton train loads of Aussie coal from Clydeport over the Settle Carlisle line for that big power station in Yorkshire.One type 66 engine,throttle wide open,and it just creeps ower’t top at 15 mph!! Bit like your new Scanny Paul up Muncaster bank eh! Cheers Dennis.

sorry dennis the lad in the armstrongs wagon had just loaded at overby sand quarry between silloth and aspatria.he sneezed got a wheel on the grass and thats what happened.armstrongs rang the police told them about the crash and nobody was hurt the lorry was off the road and they would recover it the next day.in the middle of the night 2 county mounties rocked up in a panda car. they couldnt see inside the cab to see if anybody was in there so put the windscreen out to check inside !

Bit off topic here Dennis but the rear of my house overlooks the East Coast Mainline and regularly see trainloads of coal heading North toward Newcastle and beyond, and to think that throughout the UK there was a saying, "It’s like taking coal to Newcastle.

Just remarking about something which is now factual Vic, coal being taken to Newcastle never thought I’d see it in my lifetime,millions of tons of the stuff under our feet and It’s still being imported must cost nowt.
