Hi Stanfield these lot started naming their lorries with a “BORDER” prefix after Edward started naming his! They were a much smaller and less successful outfit then Stobbies in those days.

ESF I dont dislike Stobarts but now you are being silly with your last quote and also you do know that CG started a ES thread ages ago so why not put your pics on there.

EDDIE STOBART FAN:
Another PSV

Well why don’t you get on it ESF,ring the bell, and ■■■■ off back to Hesket you wally !! Bewick.

To : EDDIE STOBART FAN , -

Having seen the two photographs of the line-ups , maybe youd better start saving money for a new camera. Buy one which has a VERY wide-angle view , because itll come the day when youll be able to photograph EVERY ONE of the green death fleet together , i.e. - theyve ALL been taken off the road for good .

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

:stuck_out_tongue: the stobart group might have started in ■■■■■■■■■■■ but the main bases are o,conners old yard, crick, and appleton thorn, noo thats a lang walk frae caldbeck on a frosty morning : :open_mouth:
mmm, but robsons werent afraid to put ■■■■■■■■■■ on, or robsons frae carlisle on the back, and the names meant something

Maybe EFS think’s that Sto**rts actually ran all those old wagons that were painted up in their colours.

I put these photos on here so that you could all discuss amongst yourselves the many facets of the modern day Stobart Group and how they have shaped the haulage industry not just in ■■■■■■■ but in the whole of Europe.

Sorry to jump on this late on but Robsons started naming theres “border” in the 1930’s! Plus Robsons had a fan club when Edward Stobart was still in short trousers, my dad was a member when he was a lad. My dad is now 57.
I dont mind stobarts. They ave smart motors but really the best motors they had were in the 80’s when the had DAF 2800’s, 112 Scanias and Volvo F12/10’s, maybe you should reconise decent firms like these.

Hello jonnyA
Firstly, Welcome to Trucknet!
Thats very interesting infomation on Robsons. I thought the Kirkbride warehouse was only used for storage of Metal Box products & paper pulp destind for Igguisund at Workington. The glass bottles for Scottish & Newcastle will proberly be a contract they got after UG took over.

Canute appear to have a lot of vehicles based in ■■■■■■■ both at Longtown and at Milnthorpe, where do they haul from?

They did get into Bolton Fell peatworks when Murrays lost it, don`t know whether they still are or not

Hello georgeking and pip2209,
Yes, they still haul from Bolton Fell peatworks (taking peat for J Arthur Bowers), but resently, their Longtown Depot seems to be used for ATS Tyre Distribution. Also at the Longtown Depot, their is quite a lot of Canutes DAF XF’s. Also, their was (last time I was along past the depot) some Wilkinsons trailers.

P.S Heres one of their Longtown DAF’s in Maryport.

Where do the Milnthorpe based trucks haul from?

Hello georgeking
As far as I know they haul from Lakeland Kitchenware at Kendal (one of there major retail contracts)

Youre right about the Lakeland work. They do the trunking to depots and shop deliveries. Canutes got it when then took over Ree Distribution from Kendal. Ive also seen some of the Milnthorpe drivers pulling flat trailers loaded with sawn logs. I dont know whether this is work from the Longtown depot or not.

Hello Ste burrow
Yes they do haul logs from Longtown, but most of the Longtown work is for J Arthur Bowers at Hethersgill.

Hello
Can anyone help. I was kindly send a email by a Trucknet member the other night regarding some infomation about Robsons of Carlisle.
As I was about the read the email, my computer stupidly desided to log me out of my email provider. When I managed to get back into the emails, I discovered that around 25 of my 50 emails where missing, including the Robsons email. After checking the rubbish box and the spam box, in case they where there, I soon discovered that they had gone for good.
So. Please, who ever sent the email about Robsons, could they Please send it again so that I can read it. I would be very grateful.
Kindest Regards
