This must surely be an early ■■■■■■■■ haulier. (The one on the back not the DAF). Furness Railway no. 20 on it’s way to Preston to take part in the Guild celebrations. It was built in 1863 when Barrow was probably still in Lancashire and ■■■■■■■ wasn’t invented but it would have run over many lines in ■■■■■■■■■■■ It is now the oldest working standard gauge steam locomotive in Britain but cannot run on main lines and tours the country visiting heritage railways.

This is where it all started, these old girls were probably the start of haulage industry in ■■■■■■■■

Who ever posted these photos on here and who ever these photos belong too I thank you for sharing them with the rest of us.

Hello EDDIE STOBART FAN
Ok, I do support Stobarts (as I am a great fan), but the ‘old girls’ as you call them, were NOT the start of the ■■■■■■■■ Haulage Industry!
Before Eddie had bought his first Bedford TK up at Caldbeck, Brady’s, Brown’s, Bewick’s & Robsons where in there Prime Years. It was only in the 1980’s, when Stobarts got the MB contract, did they expand from 25 Lorries in 1985 to 300 in 1990.
PLEASE, Please get your infomation right on Stobarts.
Kindest Regards

Technical question, which is the longer, the Unit or the trailer ? I think the unit may have “shaded it” Bewick.

This thread has gone to pot without a single contribution from Carryfast. RIP ■■■■■■■■ companies

Carryfast hasn’t a clue where ■■■■■■■ is David !!! But maybe the reason he isn’t inflicting the thread with his “verbage” is that his co director ESF is infecting the thread so they would be doubling up on the BS if they were both on !! Only a thought !! Cheers Dennis.

Hi Stanfield these lot started naming their lorries with a “BORDER” prefix after Edward started naming his! They were a much smaller and less successful outfit then Stobbies in those days.

I put these photos on here so that you could all discuss amongst yourselves the many facets of the modern day Stobart Group and how they have shaped the haulage industry not just in ■■■■■■■ but in the whole of Europe.
