I am not trawling through to see what was said about whom by whom .
Your beloved Burnholme , my how absolutely distraught you must be if anyone said anything less than positive & smelling of roses about them , how utterly disrespectful of them .
As for Barnett & Graham , yes things were said , but as I recall ( again without trawling through ) it was said about the dealership side .
Such is life , can you not take remarks in the context in which they are written , without dissecting and analysing every word written .
Some use sarcasm & wit in their posts . Shrug your shoulders , smile & please move on !!
Please , it really is beginning to get like a kindergarten in here

This seems like a very un-typical lorry for Robsons.Anyone remember it or why no BORDER fleet name ?

P.S. looks second hand with that registration no.
I believe I can now re-enter the thread as the ■■■■ storm, hopefully has abated ! I can fully explain the background to this shot of the Guy Warrior in Robsons colours. It was owned and operated by a,then, full time “subbie” of Robsons namely Unsworths Transport of Cartmel in what is now south ■■■■■■■ but was, then, in the Furness area of Lancashire hence the old lancs reg no.I believe the driver of this Guy may have been Percy Unsworth but it could have been one of their other drivers. The motor would have been new to Unsworths and may have been supplied via TGB Motors of Clithroe via W.Kieth & Son of Flookburgh who were Guy agents during the 50’s and early 60’s.This shot was taken in Liverpool which was a regular haunt for Robsons in those days and as they never had any traffic offices of their own in the major centres they used the facilities of Silver Roadways and in turn Robsons were major “subbies” of the Tate & Lyle owned Silvers. There was another small haulier based in Flookburgh,Wearing Bros, who were also permanent “subbies” of Robsons but they ran in their own livery.Cheers Bewick.

Hi,
Happy new year Dennis and all on this site.
I remember being in ‘The Gilp’. Gilpin Bridge Cafe, now a hotel, on the A590, near where it joins the A6. Percy Unsworth was there - Maybe 1970. Guess he was heading back to Grange for the night.
He was in his Foden artic - Gardner 150, which he had bought from Robsons. It was still in Robsons colours, all his work was subbed from them as I remember. Robsons were moving up to 180’s at the time. Someone asked,
‘How do you keep up with them Percy?’
He paused then replied ‘Ah, well they stop for tea breaks, I just keep going!’
Thanks for those pics Hodge, any ideas why Harrisons quite often have that two tone look going on with them? I see a lot of their Scania Artics at Innovia and they are mostly like that, looks like poor accident repairs half the time!
Also the mention of Silver Roadways reminds me. I often phoned them for back loads from Glasgow in the early seventies. They had a contract with a camping supply firm and I would load the 40’ van with maybe 10 drops along the south coast which paid well, then reload at Ryvita in Poole, or Sweetheart Plastics at Gosport? All my memories of those times along that coast were of long hot summers.
There were two guys in the Silver Roadways office in Glasgow, I can’t remember either of their names. They both answered the phone ‘Sulver Roerdweeys’
