A change of name from Irving Transport to Moss Bay Metals now appears on the doors of this Morris Commercial .

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Hello CWM

Excellent photo marra

Irving’s sold the Morris Commercial last year to David Roper of Moss Bay Metals.

He decided to keep the livery as it is and just change the name on the sides.

One change is that the wagon now has on the bonnet the name of Claude Greengrass, a character from the popular Heartbeat TV programme.

In the story, Mr Greengrass owned a Morris Commercial just like that one hence the vehicle naming

Other more modern Moss Bay Metals lorries can the a name following “Mossbay” (Mossbay Skipper is one example)

Other Mossbay Metals names on their classic fleet include:

Pop (LAO 295E), Greengrass (G196 KUJ) & Jowa (DBA 423L)

Kindest regards

I would agree with you there truckfing marra

I loved watching my grandparents DVD’s of Bill Maynard in that and still do love watching it

Sure it was filmed in Yorkshire somewhere (looks like Yorkshire on the TV)

He was better in that than Heartbeat by a long way

Excellent photo truckfing. I often see Mossbay Millenium by it’s normally pulling a tipper rather than a skip hook loader

Kindest regards

Why Bewick  ? Its not as if its the Adult channels after 11pm (which for the record, I DON’T watch and certainly wouldn’t watch either)

There’s nee bad language in it and it was a excellent comedy programme

They don’t make them like that now marra

Who’s Peter Cochrane?,no one of that name worked at Bewick Transport as I re-call let alone as Transport Manager of which I only ever had one and he was my first employee :open_mouth: ,and I was M.D. Bewick.

I see Bewick marra

I’m 18 you know and I’m sure I was on Trucknet after 8.15pm, surely not to late for a little 18 year old?

And anyway, kiddies these days (even as young as 3 or 4) go to bed at 8pm, play computer games and watch TV until past midnight and they go to sleep

My mam would have had a fit if I’d done that

Hello prattman

Excellent photos marra

Yes, Dean Auld is still going strong and has recently added some new DAF 105 XF’s to the fleet

As for Peter Cochrane, there a fella out a Penrith called Keith Cochrane who runs Cochrane Haulage, if that’s any relation

Runs a couple of DAF 105 XF’s on tipper work, white and red

Here’s a photo if that helps you marra

No Bewick marra, the tin bath is now a garden planter in the back garden so I couldn’t bath in it  !

Never been bathed in a tin one before but we managed to get a set of tin baths at a auction.

Well, don’t worry marra. After doing some research, I don’t think this Peter Cochrane is related to the Keith Cochrane either!

Maybe this Peter Cochrane dreamed of working for your great Haulage company marra and sadly, this dream never came true so after selling up, he said “Oh, I now work at Bewick Transport”?

In regard to PETE COCHRANE i can tell you he now works at samworth brothers running out of penrith,he runs opposite to one of my mates.

Heres a two - for - one. Photographed in theCraft` marquee , at the recent ■■■■■■■ Steam Gathering.

A beautifully-painted nameboard by Jim Ashcroft.
The Foden 8 wheeler of Robsons of Carlisle was a familiar sight on the roads through Kendal , before the opening
of the M6 in October 1970.
Percy Unsworth was a sub-contractor for Robsons for many years , and was based in Cartmel.

A bit of nostalga for the likes of Dennis ; Leyland 600 ; and Leyland 680 , and others who remember Percy`s fleet.

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Yes CWM really admired Robsons in there day used to take pulp to Thames Board real Robson
Country in its day and yes I do remember Percy with his ERF’s painted in Robson colours take care

Percy Unsworth and his family would have been one of Robsons longest serving sub-contractors,there is a photo of Unsworths Guy Warrior 4 wheeler in one of Bob Tuck’s books parked on Dock road in Liverpool, probably in the very early '60’s,the Guy is resplendant in Robsons livery.Wearing Bros. of Flookburgh were also sub-contractors of Robsons in those early years but they sold their “A” licenced motors to Davy& Co (Grange)Ltd. in early '64 IIRC and just continued to run their tippers out of Sandside Quarry.Cheers Dennis.

Hi Bewick, I can remember Percy Unsworh’s Guy Warrior with it flamboyant cab, wrap round windscreen and double front bumpers. The bees knees in those days.

Cheers, Leyland 600

I wonder if Percy has a look at trucknet ? Got me thinking about the Guy,I wonder if he bought it from W. Keith & Son from Flookburgh who were Guy Dealers at that time, and which engine would it have had,the Leyland (probably) or the Gardner.Percy wouldn’t have been “hanging about” so it probably had the Leyland 375,Radio and shaving point ? Cheers Bewick.

This ■■■■■■■■ hauliers well-presented Scania was parked in Brough, a couple of miles from Warcop , over Easter weekend, when I took the photograph. Maybe too far from ■■■■■■■■ Gills hometown for him to expand on any details.

Cheers , cattle wagon man.
