Not good news Dave, whatever there doing you can be sure of one thing, they will be cutting the job up, unless things have changed.

They are from Chippenhan aren’t they John,it never ceases to amaze me,how many excavators they have dotted along the moterway on a job, they had a lot between Gordano Services and the Clevedon junction on the M5 a few years ago.
Cheers Dave.

Yes Dave, their yard’s not far from FG Bond on the A420. They were up here recently working on RAF Brize, and more recently on Kidlington Airport. They must pay their drivers well; nearly all their lorries are blinged up. regarding the M4 work, didn’t they take alot of work off H. Hibberds? I remember they always did the M4 with old Hino 8wheelers.

Don’t know many of the plant hire firms down that way Nathan.Have seen F G Bond wagons at the truck-shows.The Tarmac management for this area and the south west is based near Bristol,so if they have work up this way they will sourcing the material from these near to me.
Cheers Dave.

Smiths of Gloucester seem to be getting about a fair bit aswell. They’ve got an impressive recycling plant beside the M5.

They have been up here a lot lately Nathan.Saw one of their Scania eight leggers yesterday. We also get Churngold up here now and again, they are currently doing a job on the new Hereford livestock market.
Cheers Dave.

They always have some smart looking tippers Nathan.Do they do their own work or haul for quarries.

Mostly haulage for the local quarries and some merchanting apparently, although with Wick on it’s last legs it must be a concern…

Is Wick worked out Nathan or just gone quiet. Can’t say that I know the place.
Cheers Dave.

Cemex Wick is almost worked out. They’re quarrying out the seam which the tarmac plant was sat on. I don’t know if the old RMC Readypave plant is closed too, Dad told me the workshops there are all closed. I think they’ve been given extra permission to dig at Wickwar as there was topping going on there last time I visited. Cemex closed Cromhall Quartz pit about 12 months ago or more which was just down the road from Wickwar.

Plenty more Hillside around Wotton Under Edge to hack a quarry out of Nathan, just loose in with a big 360%  .
Cheers Dave.

That’s a small little weighbridge Nathan.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen artics in there come to think of it Dave. They get a fair few 4wheelers in there, mostly delivering to little villages in Berkshire and Wiltshire where anything else is too big.

It must be the camera angle Dave, unless they have changed the bridge. I ran in and out of there for years with artics, maybe it’s just not as busy now. We ran sand out of there to golf courses all over the country, and ran sand into there from Grundons pit at Fair Oak on a back load basis when we were tipping coal in that area, which was weekly during the winter months.

Cheers

John.

We supply them with shingle because of it’s colour. Their topsoil’s good stuff.

I can see that an artic would get through there John,as they aren’t any wider than that F6,just thought it looked a narrow approach to a weighbridge.
Cheers Dave.

Sorry Dave I thought you were talking about the length of the bridge, as it looks short in Nathans post , It is a narrow approach but not as bad as it looks in the photo.
Cheers

John.

Hi John,
I was thinking the whole setup looked a small time weighbridge, but it looks a smallish quarry, probably adequate enough for it’s purpose.
Cheers Dave.
