Found this post and the man in Question on the Roscof to plymouth ferry on Wed night.
Mushrooman asked
Does anybody know of an owner driver from Cornwall called Dave Clark who used to run down to the Middle East in the eighties. I.I.R.C. Dave had a French motor a Berliet or a Saviem and then he had a Fiat, he always had the Cornish Flag on the back of the cab.

Hi Keith, I was only talking about Dave a couple of hours before you replied . You two must of clocked up more sea miles than a Royal Navy Admiral by now .

Hi Richard, are you still working in Central Asia ?.
Maybe you or your Cornish friends can remember a garage in Saint Just who sold agricultural equipment which was run by a couple of brothers after their father died in 1980.
I once delivered a couple of Claass combine harvesters which I had loaded in Gutersloh, West Germany, with an overhanging load and very narrow Cornish lanes some people get very cheesed off when they have to reverse over 300 meters .
Hi Steve, yes thats right, still out in the back o’ beyond…in fact right now I’m in Tashkent, Uzbekistan…its +35 outside and enough to melt the ice in the vodka!
Can’t say I recall any firms like that down there, not saying there weren’t…or ort like that
Tis usually the grockels who get most cheesed off about “ruddy big tractors” or “ruddy big lorries” blocking their road, and they don’t like to keep on their own side of the road either…gets my old man jumping it does…we had a crowd come down to sow some lime for us and it was tractor, spreader & ramps all hooked up one behind the other, plus a lorry load of lime following…anyway upshot of it all was on their way they met some incomer in a narrow bit of road, close to home…she refused to reverse to let the boys go through, so they stopped their engines in the middle of the road, pulled their flasks out and had their lunch while she sat & stewed in the car
That used to happen a lot, didn’t it? I upset some retired Colonel in Tresparret once while I was tipping fertiliser. He insisted he had to get through, and since he was a trifle portly, I asked if he was pregnant…
The boss had a phone call about that one…
Wasn’t Dave Clarkes Merc a hi rise?
Are there any pics of George Clarkes Merc about by any chance? He ran out of Five Lanes. I am trying to get some pics of Sillifants gear among others. They may not be top notch pics but I am working on it anyway. That Block lorry of theirs must have been the one Merv was driving when the big bust up occurred.

Anyone recall Bill Hicks who used to drive the ERF sleeper for GREENAWAYS of Bude?
They pulled fridges up to London mainly I think.
I recall Greenaways had a flat in Slough or Greenford area for the drivers.
I see a pic on here of a Greenaways ERF in white. Imremember it in red, when was the colour change?
I can remember a Leyland Roadtrain in red and an ERF but apart from that they’ve been white with red and black stripes since i started driving(just over 21 yrs ago).
Most of their work was,as you say, pulling fridges for Roach Foods, which is now Tulip.
Don’t know if they’re still in there.
Clive Singleton is still running - has a blue and white Renault Magnum. Does anyone remember the Seddon Silver Knight he ran - or the Volvo that replaced it?
Thought I’d update that still alive and kicking. Below (I hope??) are shots of more recent kit in order of running them.
Thanks for the pictures Clive.
As this post has come alive again recently, can we have some more pics of Cornish companies old and new if there are any lurking about??
Thanks

Hello ,heres a few pics of a fantastic cornish company which nowadays is a shadow of its former self.
Cheers Bubbs.
Nice to see the ECC lorries listed. When I ran nights for TNT, we regularly chatted to a couple of their drivers. One was called Chunky on the CB, they used to run up to Stoke on nights. I think his name was Keith Hayward. He was a cracking man & I really hope he uses this forum & sees this.
