Companies robbing drivers!

What about those NASA scientists? Poncing around as if they are mega intelligent and erm, well talented. And those bloody surgeons who replace hearts & things, who the hell do they think they are?

Do they know how to use a ratchet strap? That’s right, probably do. And I will tell you another thing…I’m not having this ■■■■■■■■ about Galaxy chocolate being better than Dairy Milk.

What’s the thread about by the way?

Canoe or kayak?

Personally I prefer the train.

Those bloody orchestra’s are trouble causers too Rob. I remember catching a violinist slashing curtains at Charnock Richard N/B whilst inside the conductor was kicking off at KFC because they only gave him change for a tenner when he said it was a £20 note. :unamused:

Starting going mental squirting bbq sauce in the managers eyes.

Yeh, bloody orchestras, far too much sax and violins for my liking. :smiling_imp:

I’d just like to point out it’s sharesies on this site - best get another load in

The way I look at it, I earn £28k-ish and i’m home before 6pm most nights Mon-Fri & the job is a doss. I know I couldn’t do that in another field without doing some serious training & gathering of experience, plus i’d probably have to do some actual work and put up with some stress for my money.

I’m happy with my situation, so I don’t worry about whether my hourly rate might be considered below par.

I love drivers that think this is a stressful job, it’s really not, not by any stretch.

I’d say truck driving is a stressful job if you let it be. Get caught in the web of chasing your tail, shouting at idiot drivers, driving up to the limit then having only 9 off then doing it all again the next day. Keep that up for 10 years, add in a poor diet and lack of exercise and you’re a walking heart attack waiting to happen.

Yep.

Getting stressed out with the job, eating fried breakfasts/chip buttys/McD’s and doing 5 pints a night is a road to nowhere.
Let the stress go over your head, eat healthy and drink juice…be happy not miserable in your work,…comparing a nurses/shelf stackers/bog cleaners/drain rodders ect pay is like comparing chalk and cheese ie not comparable and really not worth worrying about… :stuck_out_tongue:

Fruit not man… :grimacing:

Just what exactly do nurses wages have to do with truck drivers wages? Just like truck drivers the door opens both ways nobody can force anyone to do something they don’t want to do!!!

thats reasonable, considering what many others are earning + £27.50 for a uk night out seems good too…i know of companies paying £20 a night out for european work and uk work…to boot this company is offering only 48 hours a week before overtime…some drivers are never satisfied…and are waiting for that huge increase by all hauliers of £ 20+ per hour…its not going to happen.

What’s the difference between lorry drivers and nurses? Since when was giving a few injections and wiping ■■■ a hard job? We have to put up with high stress isolation and no social life.

I’ll bite.

3 years doing a degree. Nursing has moved way beyond jabbing someone with a needle and wiping someone’s arse. Nurses are now doing some of the jobs doctors do including patient diagnosis and issuing prescriptions.

Anyone with a pulse can drive a truck as many on this forum prove. You don’t need to be a rocket scientist. Many on this forum though wouldn’t even make it past the first stage of application to be a nurse because they’re too thick.

It seems not that employers undervalue drivers. Drivers are undervaluing themselves en masse. It’s heartbreaking, it’s bleak, and it’s disappointing bearing witness to it.

It may not take much skill to physically drive a lorry, and a licence can be gained in a week, but it takes a long time to learn the job in its entirety, it bears a lot of responsibility, and it takes skill to do it artfully. A time served, safe, efficient, well experienced, conscientious, interested, diplomatic, and cool headed driver is worth every penny of £15 per hour.

Where has our collective pride gone? We need to lift our esteem from the gutter, and stop valuing ourselves as £8p/h gophers. We’re worth more than that, if only for the responsibility of a 44 ton chunk of metal moving at 90kmh along thin strips of tarmac in close proximity to thousands of people in any given shift. If only for the potential for death, at any moment, from a steer axle blow out smashing us through the central reservation, down an embankment, or over a bridge. If only for the constant liability and threat of severe fines. Let’s raise our collective worth a little.

Noble sentiments mate. However…round and round and round it goes, where it stops…nobody knows. Until drivers stop tailgating, throwing ■■■■ bottles around, driving drunk, damaging everything, littering etc we will still be looked upon as walking turds. A couple of lads on here have it spot on when they say " Driver’s are their own worst enemy "
