A firm I worked for only had an ERF with a Gardner 150 in it Harry. I know the driver said it was cold, and the thing was brand new back in 1968.

If I remember I am sure some of the old lorries had a leathe or canvas shutter fixed at the top of the radiator so you could blank it off.

hiya,
The “old days” Larry they was expensive and robbed the gaffer of a bit less carrying capacity
they was quite heavy and every bit counted, I can remember a boss not letting me put a pair
fog/spots on an Albion because the headlamps had become so poor, he did however put some
new reflectors in the originals which did help, but because of the illumination he tried to put
me on the London night trunk, saying nowt wrong with the headlamps now, you’ve no excuse.

Some of the lorries in the 80/90’s had more lights they looked like christmas trees comming towards you.   I know a few during the middle east trips, had horns fitted and extra spot lights, to help in bad weather. but those who had lights all over front an back, must have needed a extra batteries and alternator. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Do you remember " Ice Cool Alex" John Mills, Richard Attingborough, Sylvia Sims, she was a slim slip of a girls, she was on telly making a comment on someone who had just died, I was shocked,   she was so bloated she made me wait a while to find out who she was ! :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

Hiya,
Yes Norm some of the “crackers” we used to drool over years ago are now " right horrors"
Father Time hasn’t been kind to them at all, saw a rare and recent picture of the one
and only Brigitte Bardot a young lady who incidentally I was at one time madly in love
with ( weren’t we all ) she hasn’t half let herself go, but I guess so have a lot more and
maybe they’re happy to be that way, just themselves and out of the limelight.
thanks harry, long retired.

Sophia Loren is one, that still looks good for her age. 79 I think, but as you say, a lot of them look their age now, and probably worse if you saw them first thing in the morning.
Cheers Dave.

Yvonne de Carlo was voted the most beautiful women, last time I saw her a few years ago, she was in a film with Roy Rogers. He was in his 80’s she must have been the same age, it was a horror film and she was horriffic.
