Hi, You whisky drinkers will remember this, I was parked outside an old derelict Glasgow pub, up on the sign over the doors it said, lager, beers, .etc. and spirits at 1/4 gill, those were the days eh :unamused:
Les.

hiya,
Wasn’t it always 1/4th gill in Scotland and 1/6th of a gill in England, I know I always got drunk
quicker in Glasgow than I did in Carlisle.
thanks harry, long retired.

Hi Harry, I believe it was, the optics are stamped 35ml now whatever that works out at, ill stick to the lager it doesn’t hurt as much.
Les.

Still got a full head of hair Norm, only a whiter shade. I think Harry was he babe puller. I certainly wasn’t. I was with the same girl for 6 years who took that pic. We drifted apart after my accident, but she stuck with e for a couple of years after it. We were only young and remained friends.
ow a photo of Harry, can we tempt him to post one.
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Dave, I wouldn’t have a clue how to post a picture, and I doubt if I could find a
camera that would withstand taking the picture, but I seem to remember the
odd photo finding it’s way onto various threads posted by other people that I’ve
met at different locations since I joined Trucknet, I too have a full head of hair
or I would have if I didn’t shave my head every few weeks.

Here’s a shot of Harry I took a couple of years ago at the Tyne Tees Run halfway halt at Chester-le-Street. A reminder for all that the ā€œRunā€ takes place Sunday 1st June, see you all there. Regards Kev.

Hi, Scotland was no drink on Sundays, unless you knew where to go, Hotels were good.
Les.

the wife (then girl friend ) took me up to ayr to meet some of her family in 1962 , women weren’t allowed in the public bar , only in the lounge bar and men had to buy their drinks .

hiya,
You could drink in hotels in Scotland on a Sunday but could only drink in private
members clubs if stuck in Wales on Sunday, this did include working men’s clubs
so most drivers myself included always carried an affiliation card.

That reminds me Kev, you don’t see many Michelin Men on trucks these day do you, they were very popular a few years ago and command decent money now? The example on the grille of that ERF is a bit tatty though, now’t
that a quick spray over wont sort out given time…

Pete.

Wonderful item of clothing, was a boiler suit Harry. I remember a bloke walking into a do in a boiler suit. Everybody was staring at him, then turned away and started talking to one another, then he ripped the boiler suit off to reveal a smart suit and collar and tie.
Cheers Dave.

No Norm I was keeping warm on that particular day the old ERF had starting problems
so the engine had to be kept running and I was just standing there keeping myself to
myself and warming my arse with the heat from the ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  engine.
