cinemas

so here’s my thinking,
I am away 4 nights a week usually over a weekend. was thinking once I have parked up on a Saturday night it would be good to get out the cab and go watch a movie. anyone do this and if so where?

Nottingham on the A52…Huge cinema and easy parking nearby. Not done it for years though, I used to do it in Ireland a lot too.

I’ve done it a few times. Whilst on maritime I watched the last Bourne film at salford quays, a ten min walk from the yard. A mate of mine used to park near the retail park in Kettering but now they issue tickets. Same with thurrock, you used to be able to park by mc truck but now it’s an overnight clearway. You can park opposite the one in Harlow outside lok ‘n’ store

Junction 9 m6.

I take a dvd player with me,as I feel a bit odd asking for one ticket at the cinema.

Why? Nothing odd. Firstly nobody knows you or will ever see you again, secondly it’s dark inside  You can use the automated machines if you prefer. I would feel more odd entering a pub and ordering a beer or food alone tbh

Not weekended but use to be a fair few of us N/O on a thursday in Haverfordwest many moons ago would be almost the only ones at the cinema and we only paid a quid to get in … a driver on Gregorys I knew would go tenpin bowling if he could.

I saw quantum of solace at a cinema in Bradford. And bought 2 tickets cos of the orange Wednesday two for one thing. One seat for me, and one for me popcorn

Plenty of places to stop around festival leisure in Basildon- pictures, bowling and a range of bars etc.

I used to park up in the the retail park opp Harland & Wolfe in Belfast. Spent many a happy Sunday afternoon watching a film, whilst waiting for the return ferry to Heysham.

Coventry,Bentley bridge.

If anyone parks at Asda Cribbs Causeway you are only a 10 minute walk away from a cinema, ten pin bowling, a shopping mall and various restaurants.

HTH.

There goes your night out allowance price eh a film and a box of popcorn!

If you park in dundee outside cj laing there is an odeon there and the showcase cinema in bargeddie east of glasgow, seeing more and more wagons parked there at night, but someone will soon put a stop to that i reckon.

You can park directly behind the cinema in between the honda and Peugeot garage. Room for about 10 trucks. Quiet and safe. Then a 1 minute walk to cinema, tgi fridays, bella italia etc etc

I did some of my first agency work at C.J.Laings delivering to Spar shops ,this was about 15 years ago.I thought that the money was good back then £7.50 per hour. How much is it nowadays? :unamused:

Why do any of you feel a bit odd asking for one cinema ticket, or going to a pub or restaurant on your own? I used to do it all the time … it’s no one else’s business why I’m having a curry on my own with a book propped up on the table in front of me, or going for a solitary cinema visit.

A drive in cinema like they used to have in the US. Site it near a motorway or other major route, ran by a well known chain like Odeon etc■■?

This is Britain remember, either stupidity or excessive red tape would put that idea on its arse before long…it is a good idea though, that’s why the Americans have it

Have you ever used a drive in cinema ? And if so I wager it was not raining…

Why would anyone pay to watch a film when the picture quality is so badly degraded by the rain between the projector and the wet screen that it’s it difficult to see at best between sweeps of the windscreen wipers.

Then there is the added frustration of being unable go hear the dialogue which is being drowned out by the rain hammering down on the roof. Compounded by the engines that are running to keep the battery charged to run the wipers and add heat to the tin box your sitting in.
