Hello Neil
I’m still about, I have been off line for a while though. I can only remember Northovers having Commers & Bedfords but they probably had others before them.

Good to see this thread back on page one again, it’d be great if a few more pictures come through too

hello neil b, yes we did meet at gaydon, i hope you are all well up there, we had a long chap about old hauliers in the area, i have only just found this tread, my god its adictive! if they had banned live export back then there would have beem very few cattle truck drivers around, its not until youstart going into it you realise how many trucks used to run from the irish ferries all over the uk with fat cattle and bloody great horns! never mind the sheerness, butilaar , division. the stories my father tells me about those days are fassinating. does anyone have any pics of fraans butilaars silver drawbars from the day? i have contacted some of the old names and drivers seen on here from my days with livestock and its supprising how they vannished at the time but like a shipping container stay just below the surface ! i have seen a picture on the thread f10,12,16 of a red inter city f10 tilt with trailer who i have sent a message to no reply, this was another of our old trucks which we purchased from the cattle haulier aston who has there f88 pictured! also i will send you a pm with pics of an f12 which was sold you way, i think she is now with ael, ludlow collection!

It certainly is an interesting thread janer, I hope it stays ative for a while yet.

Does anybody know what john cornelius is doing now used to see him round the docks
flour mills etc in the late eighties earl nineties he had a merc with bulk tipper i had a scania

Good to hear someone who knew Roger in his transport days. He is my wife’s cousin, when I first met him he was driving a Merc for a firm near Maidstone, then moved on to SAS in Bromley before he set up on his own and then retunring to his origional trade of draughtsman. He re-married last year and lives near Banbury. Funny how someone who had no connection with livestock or Somerset should appear on this thread.
regards Peter

Peter i worked on a farm after leaving school then drove a cattle lorry
then onto the bulk tippers doing grain feed etc we had relations in yeovil
& east coker thats the connections.
Roger was a great bloke to work for a good friend as well as a boss lost
touch with him a few years ago when he was staying around the leatherhead area
if i email you at your address perhaps you could forward my details on to him
cheers geoff.

tippergeoff austin is my father and hubert is john`s father.
