Johnny Pratt’s wagon, based at Coventry, before that he had a Leyland Comet, also always clean and well jazzed up.

Yep that John’s alright, when James Car Delivery took over, it just never looked the same all Orange, but his Haniel wagons (spelling) always looked great.

Furness & Parker from Coventry, I’ve done a painting of this picture, Furness & Parker became part of BRS in about 1964.

This load would be out of Folkestone we used to get in there for Beetles. See this truck has been made legal front & rear extensions off & drawbar shortened probably.

I had a similar Leyland Comet/Carrimore wagon and drag on Progressive also at the time when the new regs shortened the drawbar. Prior to that Billy Horn had just about every extension imagineable frabricated on both wagon and drag and artics, drawbar unit top deck front folding extensions, trailer top deck rear folding extensions, trailer bottom deck rear folding extensions. Progressive had a first class welding team at adapting carriers for max load. Wagon and drag top deck, five Vauxhall Victors , length 70ft plus. When the drawbars were shortened we still had the deck extensions. These Progressive in house extensions were challenged in court, read about it here archive.commercialmotor.com/arti … -in-detail
