a few more photos of some others and autologic loads, with another couple with a little bit of damage.the first one shows how powerful range rovers are (after this happened a few times you were only allowed to load them in low range)

It’s not the power in the car as much as the muppet driving it, saw this done with a Puegeot 306. that range rover must have been after the other 2 they did the same too, as we always reversed them on up to that point a much safer way imo, because if you go over the top driving them on, you go through the window, if you do it in reverse, your back has the full support of the seat, but thats H&S for you.

I agree with the backing them up but i did hear that Dave Canning ended up in the boot when he went off backwards don’t know how true that is.

Dave Canning is a good friend of mine, not seen him for years, yes it’s true he did end up in the back.

i know what the power of them range rovers is like, but for me luckily, it was the scissor deck not the peak,i had a lohr ehr at the time,on them that deck has d’s that the front or back wheels drop into, well i’d reversed it on with the front wheels touching the d’s(if i’d just rolled forward a couple of feet forward of the d’s),anyway i gave it some pedal, did’nt move, gave it some more, did’nt move, gave it even more!!!the bloody thing took off, shot back,i felt the front of the scissor deck drop, there was another r, rover behind the cab,i thought christ 2 r,rovers damaged.
Well i got out to have a look,i could’nt believe what i saw, there was a dent near where the number plate goes,it looked nothing it had’nt even cracked the new paint.
It was going to upper heyford for storage,i thought about leaving it on but concience got the better of me,took it off and reported it,i was later told over £1,ooo damage,oh well, could have been worse i suppose, seems a lot for one dent, not a mark on the one behind the cab.

Heres a couple of Yanks with a european twist.

Hi, Ive just found this site. Boy!! talk about turn back the years. I was in the car game for 29yrs. I started working for Lathams(Cartransport) in the yard at Harwich, they put me through my HGV. Then i worked for Dependable Delivery as a driver, then Tolemans(Harwich) for 14+yrs, then R&M international(Deerham), then ended my days at Walon Purfleet. Now i live in Spain & have been for the past 6yrs. Maybe some of the names ive seen on here will remember me & my dad. Im Les Jones & my dad is Dennis Jones. I think back to those Toleman days with fond memories & sadness, the guys i worked along side, the company was one of the best(even tho we moaned). I went to Teds sons funeral in Lavenham, what a sad day. Me, Barry Kempley, Taffy Stocker, Corrine(from the office at Harwich) & ■■? blimey me minds gone blank, anyway a few others were there. My bother Ron worked on security at Harwich, but was sadly killed in a car crash on his way home from work. So as i said before, i have many fond memories, tinged with sadness. & if “Gonzo” is Phil from the Milton depot, im still waiting for that phone call you muppet.
