Took him 55 mins to get to LFE Services from Hinckley!!,

It took 30 mins, think you need to re-read the OP.

Still shouldn’t have took him 30 mins to get there from Hinckley

Oh yes it can at that time of day - experience

Amazing how many companies do the same runs day in day out but every now and then a driver pops up who swears it can’t be done and what happens? Somehow they run out of time. Give. Me. Strength. If you’ve got a 10, use it. If you don’t they send they’d send a van to get you, why wasn’t that good enough?

Going back to when the speed limit on s/c was 40 then there could be a problem, not so likely now.

That’s an average speed of over 50mph takes some doing at anytime let alone a Friday

Our lot do a Howden to Portbury run every day and its 4hrs driving each way normally but it has got a bit touch and go when the M5 and M42 has been closed on the way back up so you go via Coventry/M69. I used to do Holme on Spalding Moor to Kenysham on days on a regular basis and always did it in a standard 9hr daily drive.

When I saw the OPs run I wondered what the problem was but then again I don’t take nearly an hour’s driving to get 5 miles down the road.

In my mercifully brief stint as a TM I was frankly amazed at how many drivers look for reasons not to do the work you give them before they even get in the truck. That and the fact it’s actually hard to find drivers who’ll get in a truck and do the work asked of them without throwing up non existent problems every hour is most of what made the job so ■■■■■■ awful!

I’ve just put the run into the Truck and Driver Rout Planner which appears to be the rout planner you used, it gives an accurate mileage of 191 miles but gives a travelling time of 5 hours 22 minutes.

That averages 35.5mph, if you need a rout planner to calculate how long a run will take perhaps you’d be better off using a buy proper sat-nav.

Come on OP give your mangina a wipe and crack on. Most Friday nights I do a limping gig from Immingham to Avonmouth (500 mile round trip) for a trailer change, 9 hours 45 mins driving on average and that’s battling Friday teatime traffic southbound!!

Some people just don’t want the work!!

That’s an average speed of over 50mph takes some doing at anytime let alone a Friday

Apart from a bit at each end it’s flat out all the way, some weeks I used to do 5 runs the same and still be done by midday on Friday after doing nearly 4000km

No could get there loaded in 4 30/40 and back in 4 10, 767 km round trip

Seems do-able,take tomorrow willenhall to Plymouth 3 drops in the town then back 430 miles 2 breaks 12 1/2 hours,Plymouth 4hrs10 tip have break 2 last shops then get back to strensham before last break job done.

Sounds like a fella I met, we both started at 6 but he insisted he MUST be finished by 3:30 to pick the kids up from school

i did couple of shifts for DPD and doubt they have runs which are not doable within a day. a bit strange decision by the OP but perhaps we dont know all the details

I was given this run at dpd hinckley, planner says 3:45 driving time. Reckons they do it a couple of times a week.
I don’t do nights out,
Had to get a truck changed and a couple of bulbs done on the trailer, I had done 25 minutes driving before I left the yard, because of where the yard is the sat nav thinks you need to drive through hinckley so can’t give accurate time until you are on the a5…
I pulled in to Leicester forest east services, I’d done 55 mins driving time and still had 4 hours to do. this was at 08:30 tuesday so probably gonna take longer.
Called traffic “keep going , if you run out of time we’ll send a van out to fetch you”
Me " I told you I don’t do nights out, I’m bringing it back"
Traffic “If you bring it back you will be banned”
Me “Good”

Dozy!!! Where ya been??

A prime example of why agency drivers are mostly useless.

Think the op is a complete bell end. But it is nice to have dozy back.

Call me old fashioned here, but I aint surprised he did not have time to do the job.
He appears to be a bit pre.occupied with his Sat nav and meticulously military precision route planning. :open_mouth:
The first hour must have been taken up with all that ■■■■ :open_mouth:
Jeez H, I’ve read the post again, was he setting off for Sunderland or plotting a course for Warp factor 9… dressed in a Star Trek costume for effect.
Is that what you all do now before you set off, plan everything down to the last ■■■■ second. :open_mouth:
I did not realise this job was so stressful, I have been set in ignorant bliss all this time.
I can now see why a lot of you have not got time to stop for a ■■■■ and sit on the limiter all day driving with nose pressed to windscreen with white knuckles. :unamused:
Mostly wearing your hi viz.
