Camera vans and their view on trucks

do you think a camera van would do a truck that’s on over run on a motorway? Anyone know what speed they snap a truck at? 61? 65? Always did wonder that.

Peace and love

Anything over 100kmh at a guess.

You got something you wanna share Steve?

Camera vans and speed cameras work on the ACPO guidelines as their lowest threshold for doing someone.

So would have to be doing 67mph or over to get done, sometimes the trigger points are a lot higher than the ACPO guidelines.

Supposedly the ones on the M25 were set to about 90mph when they first came in but when they were upgraded where reduced to 79mph.

why would anyone wish to go more than 60mph anyway?

aye i know what you mean ady, lost count of my overspeeds, but i always keep em to 60mph,don’t look that bad if plod pulls ya then

Wouldn’t bank on it but I get the impression these scamera vans are a little tollerant to us heavies

As I often go passed them over the limit for HGV’s

I bet they catch a fair few truck drivers out on dual carriage ways doing 56mph.

Passed one yesterday on the A47 Peterborough dual carriage way on the other side of the road and just down the road i saw a truck overtaking another truck completly unaware what was looming ahead, - i doubt he was doing 50 mph. Must be a good money earner as he has been their before.

Also today on A46 east bound just past warwick sitting on the fly over, you could see him a mile away but no doubt some people would of been caught!!! (I was doing 50 mph)

I think the ACPO guidelines are 10% +2 which would mean doing 57 in a 50 but that dos not mean that they cannot prosecute for anything over the 50

aye but on the wax charts - i could run it to 60 without a infringment - but with the digital - if you get an overspeed over 56 for more than a minute it gets marked down as an infringment, but i dont know if thats just my mob that does that :open_mouth:

Never had to sign an infringement for upto 60 on a digi.

I was about to but then i could see a traffic car a bit further down behind the 2 trucks in my and his line of sight (he was in lane 2), i know it’s illegal to flash someone to warn of speed camera etc and was a bit wary as thought cop would do a u-turn.

Me neither and its been to 60 a good few times down hill! Also our analysis mob are like hitlers, mind you they still dont understand the WTD! LOL
