John Stephens depot was on the old entrance into newport dock from tredegar park end.
They were by Aone and Tdw Williams Tpt.
Last going off were doing a bit out of Rockwool,i know 1 was in that bad accident on the M42 in the thick fog in the early 90,s.
A jail term was issued, remember a ex driver forget his name but was on for Brian Kehoe when they had a few in caldicot.
He had a beard and ended up at exel chepstow. They had a few painted green on some contract and did not hang around.

Wow, Chepstowchap!!! Fancy coming up with a picture like this! This was an ERF NGC ‘European’ with left-hand drive (as they all had). HNV 59N was a demonstrator for ■■■■■■■ and it was a test-bed for the (then) new and up-and-coming E290 engine. It went to Pountains heavy haulage for a while; then to Redcap as per your photograph; then finally to Jona Transport. It was eventually scrapped. This photo is excellent: do you know who’s copyright it is, and can I use it in my next book about this particular marque in my ‘Lorries of Arabia’ series? If you wish to protect the picture you can always PM me for an email address! Robert

Cracking photo but i don,t remember them.
I liked your earlier photo of Tim Price,i seem to remember another price in the area.[could have been a relative]
Tim Price i,m sure ran a maggie deutz in brown,i know Gerry Jones had 1.
Do you have any pictures of Butchers Transport Cross Keys?
They were light blue too by the side of Mc cregor cory Distribution before it shut and moved to Yate.
I will have to get a scanner and get some on here.
You would remember Illytd Thomas trailers parked up on the A48 between Chepstow and Caerwent being from the area.
They employed the odd driver in the area and done changeovers.
Keep the photos coming thankyou.
