Hi all,
That foden was new to penllyne haulage in llandow.a good mate of mine drove it,the brown is later in life after being bought by Coles from ? The hamlet right on the English/Welsh border, can’t recall the name.
Regards andrew.

Coles depot come operating base was over the english border at Welsh Newton , he perchased a few AECs from Smiths English Bicknor , no doubt our ROF will know this .
Fred Bouldry or Greenlands transport was also over the border at Orcup , as was his Mansons Cross garage , regards Keith .

Absolutely right, Keith. Although the Smith’s AECs would have required a bit of fettling after the Foresters had the best years out of them!
I remember Fred Baldry having some of the first Volvo F86 artics that I had seen.

At the time, Griffin Mill had a branch at Tram Inn, just down the road from Orcop where Baldry’s were from. The site was between the Sun Valley feed mill and the railway line, right opposite the Tram Inn pub. At the time, the pub was run by ■■? Sheedy (I don’t know his first name), his son Kevin went on to become a professional footballer, played for Hereford, Liverpool, but really made his name at Everton. (Sorry, bit of useless info there)
My Dad bought an F88 from Griffin Mill at Tram Inn in late 1972, and a used to park the odd trailer there round the back of the workshop on occasions. I’m not sure when Griffin Mill closed the branch there - (we moved away from Hereford in 1980), at some point it become a second hand car yard.

Hi kmills , i can just remember Griffin mill at Tram inn , and yes it is now a second hand car premises

Talking to an old mate of mine , he can remember that first F86 of Fred Bouldry and the interest it sparked with S Wales hauliers and the like .
But others soon followed with Arthur Oakley and H L Robinson in Hereford , Fred Bouldry operated around 15 F86s , regards Keith .
