Hi I’m planning on buying a fors sticker on ebay gold sticker to stick on my owner truck so I’m less likely to get hassled by dvsa even though I run clean can I do so or will I get in trouble?
DVSA couldn’t care less about FORS, it’s a voluntary scheme that has no legal standing.
DVSA are only interested in OCRS, which is not voluntary, and ER which is top-banana and exempts you from OCRS

Been there done that even had magnetic stickers that go over my name with the real Fors registered hauliers name on ,I did it for yrs but it’s a bit more difficult now as sites can check your reg number against the Fors number ,I’ve even put different reg numbers on to hide the fact I’am euro 2 but the safer zone with the mirrors & side guards has put a stop to that too
If you’re running your own vehicle just refuse to do any jobs they want you to have FORS for. As soon as hauliers start to refuse to do it in sufficient numbers it’ll die the death. Likewise what Khan is bringing in with the cameras and windows in doors etc, if haulage companies start to turn around and go “no thanks we just won’t bother to deliver to London, the expense isn’t worth it and we’ve plenty of work outside of London” then that’ll quietly disappear too.
It’s not just London, we turned down a job in Cambridge two years ago, had to be FORS Silver for at least three months prior to be allowed on the premises, can’t be arsed with it.
It’s all a load of toah anyway. Did a crossrail job and a Marshall wouldn’t let me on site because I didn’t have a warning triangle. The guy behind me lent me his, the Marshall ticked his box, I gave it back to the other driver before driving on site anyway

Now I cant speak for the DVSA but I’ve spoken to managers. They seem to rate it highly. From there experience its meant less hassle and not being randomly picked for a inspection.
I’ve never been stopped while working for a FORS gold firm. This is not so much due to the sticker. It’s because DVSA in the area know that these firms have quite a good standard and are not likely to have defects.
If your DVSA your best off targetting the known offenders.

Marshall = Jumped up Security Guard = Someone who is too idle to get a proper job ?

Utter rubbish there are plenty of Fors hauliers doing it wrong just the same as there’s plenty of Fors auditors that are not too sharp !

Both our statements can be true.
I drove for COOP for a few years and I never knew a single driver to be stopped by DVSA.

Probably because Coop like most of the other big super markets are either on the Earned Recognition scheme or rated high (Green light) on OCRS those are both DVSA’s babies so they play nice.

Pretty much.
Or… marshall = wants to work in construction but has zero construction skills
The Marshalls tend to be our friends from the dark continent. They have limited english but tend to be friendly and some you can have a good chuckle with.
There is one site near Manchester we go to and he is a monster, 6ft 2 and built like the provebial ■■■ house but he is a cracking lad always on the wind up.

Cheers Fuzrat, that’s it in a nutshell.
I’m surprised by how much misunderstanding there is about FORS/OCRS/ER. The OP clearly thought a FORS sticker was some kind of Golden Ticket to being left alone.
As for FORS/DVS etc dieing a death, once again I’m surprised that a lot of drivers don’t see where the industry is headed. It reminds me of 2008/2009 when loads of people on TM were saying DCPC would be scrapped before it was ever implemented

Likewise what Khan is bringing in with the cameras and windows in doors etc, if haulage companies start to turn around and go “no thanks we just won’t bother to deliver to London, the expense isn’t worth it and we’ve plenty of work outside of London” then that’ll quietly disappear too.
I won’t work like that unfortunately, the yes men will just add more vehicles to cover demand and hopefully the rates will just go up and up .

Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme.
Short version is: it’s a voluntary scheme, not run by DVSA or any part of the government, doesn’t exempt you from being stopped by DVSA, costs a lot to be part of it, lots of hoops to jump through for the operator, but that might be worth that hassle for the operator when it comes to getting contracts. They’re aiming to be the benchmark for the haulage industry
Long version is really dull…

Like a private club one has to pay to join to be able to deliver to sites mainly in London but also in odd other city’s and Hinckley point power station too .
My deal is with the traffic commissioner when I signed the undertakings I don’t do Fors anymore I work for nice people and don’t go to such sites ,although I have posed as a Fors haulier by getting some stickers on
Had one truck on a Franchise to one of the aggregate companies and around 4 years ago they said we had to do FORS bronze. Now we run a 7.5t coal delivery truck a 7.5t used for the surfacing and a 6w hook loader which takes the paving machine to jobs plus 2 other tippers that do our own work. Now all these truck had to have the cycle guards and extra mirrors etc so that we could get FORS. 1st time wasn’t too bad paid the audit fee and sat up at the quarry office for 4 hours and went through everything and got through. 2nd year it had got a lot harder, paid my fee again and turned up for the audit. Another 4 hours and I failed. Had forgot some paperwork, they said as I had done my Operators CPC over 30 years ago I needed to do a refresher course and my blokes had to do E learning. Spent weeks of evenings writing health and safety policies and drivers manuals. Went on a refresher course which cost just shy of £300 and spent around £250 on a laptop so the boys could do e learning plus I had to pay half again for the re audit.
The last 2 years I haven’t bothered and the franchise truck went to a HS2 site a while back and the bod checking the truck saw the sign for the cctv had FORS on it and he let it in.
Thankfully the driver of that truck handed his notice in a few weeks ago and the truck has been sold and FORS can take a running jump.
