those old chaps were absolute stars at that job . they didn’t bash and bang all day , they knew how the grain ran in the stone , and would split a boulder with one or two sharp blows . they had to be good though as in the lime burning quarries up here they had to load the undersize rubble as well as the 7/9 inch stone , and they were only paid for the good stone . cheers , dave
Just been reading the topic about 8mm film from the 70s,butlers had one made professionaly narrated by raymond baxter,I would have loved to put it on here but when T****C took them over the film was borrowed never to be seen again, not sure what year it was made.
Cracking shot Paul. Was the ERF a six wheeler? Also like the Tarmac liveried ERF breaker to the right. Don’t suppose there’s a pic of that?
That ERF wrecker ended up at Tarmacs Cawdor quarry in Matlock as we used it for a while, I don’t know where it went after that.
Hi Bonkey, yes it was here’s a better shot, also the wrecker from other side but not very much detail, something j.
0Last one of alans erf.Oops sorry put them allon.

Bump, help someone else must have butlers pics in south yorkshire.Fingers crossed.
I remember delivering there for atlas express in the 80s and the speed hump down the hill, one day i went and it had been tarmacked over, i thought it had been removed and hit it a bit fast, nearly went throo roof on my D seris unit didnt make that mistake again
Atlas man, before the new entrance was in use you had to go through the village to get to the quarry, same rule applied SPEED BUMP due to one of the drivers being killed after falling of the lorry during sheeting a load of tarmac, health and safety rules applied. One particular driver did not want to stop for speed bump because of the hill out of the quarry result, broken springs this was during the 1970s he broke a few before he was given a verbal warning, dont think he got the sack.
Came across these pics on net of new screening and crushing plant at holme hall quarry being installed.
