Busy Mr Trump

So if you attack Trump you must by default be an immovable Labour supporter?

Can’t we just be people who have seen a lot of life and can spot a charlatan of a politician when we see one. A politician who sees himself as some sort of deity. An opportunist who latched on to the clusterf@@k that has been American leaders for the last 40 years. You think (or certainly come across in your posts) that Trump is some sort of financial genius possessing a level of business acumen that few have. Finagling your tax returns does not portray the actions of someone who wants to do what’s best for his country. Owing 100’s of millions of $$ to banks does not make you a successful businessman. Being found to be a serial sex pest should not be on the plus side when your writing your CV.

But yes we are all lefties for pointing this out.

I disagree, I think Rob is eloquently making eloquent and arguably arguable arguments.
I guess he is an undercover Bitcoin salesman or even has a side hustle selling spray tan & male eyeliner.

I admire his preparations to stand as a Reform candidate when the next opening appears.

His tacho must be interesting, judging by his posting here, not many miles or working hours recorded - he could even challenge Nigel Farage, as Rob goes home to Newcastle at the weekends and therefore spends more time much nearer Clacton than Farage ever achieves

:smiling_face_with_sunglasses: :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I’ll stop you right there mate before I read the rest of your post, to give you a chance to read mine back to realise I did not say that at all.
That comment pertained to the lack of criticism in comparison to this thread with Starmer.

:face_with_tears_of_joy:
Cheers I admire your vivid imagination.
(Not so much your logic…but there ya go.)

Not sure what my tacho records have to do with this, (certainly NOT ‘interesting’ as you suggest ) but you aint far wrong, my hours are about 45 to 50 over 4 days, so yeah I aint a slave to excessive and bloody ridiculous hours (anymore) but that’s the way I like it.
Oh btw been to Clacton about 2x in my life, and I dont actually live in Newcastle…but thanks for the interest.

I’m thinking Kenneth Williams should be making another appearance soon.:face_with_tears_of_joy::face_with_tears_of_joy:

When you start conflating people within your posts it’s sometimes difficult to work out who, or what, you are actually referring to.

I withdraw the remarks I made in my earlier post (to use parliamentary vernacular seeing as we’re discussing a politician) :grinning: :grinning:

Ok…, but tbf I have no control over how you interpet my posts.
It seems evidently you got my drift though after going back and reading it when I suggested it.

No need to mate, not a problem.

Here’s a couple of conflicting opinions (orchestrated for effect?..you decide)

The ‘experts’ kick in around 7 mins, a lot is echoed from them by some of the stuff I have pointed out.

It was advice not criticism, I enjoy your posts whilst retaining the right to take a contrary stance. As this is your right too. If we all came at things from the same point of view we would be a fans forum instead of one that actually encourages dialogue and diversity of opinions.

Yep I get that and agree…so no probs from my end.

Former President of Poland Lech Walesa sums it up in his letter to Trump.

Your Excellency, Mr. President,

We watched the report of your conversation with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, with fear and distaste. We find it insulting that you expect Ukraine to show respect and gratitude for the material assistance provided by the United States in its fight against russia. Gratitude is owed to the heroic Ukrainian soldiers who shed their blood in defense of the values of the free world. They have been dying on the front lines for more than 11 years in the name of these values and the independence of their homeland, which was attacked by Putin’s russia.

We do not understand how the leader of a country that symbolizes the free world cannot recognize this.

Our alarm was also heightened by the atmosphere in the Oval Office during this conversation, which reminded us of the interrogations we endured at the hands of the Security Services and the debates in Communist courts. Prosecutors and judges, acting on behalf of the all-powerful communist political police, would explain to us that they held all the power while we held none. They demanded that we cease our activities, arguing that thousands of innocent people suffered because of us. They stripped us of our freedoms and civil rights because we refused to cooperate with the government or express gratitude for our oppression. We are shocked that President Volodymyr Zelensky was treated in the same manner.

The history of the 20th century shows that whenever the United States sought to distance itself from democratic values and its European allies, it ultimately became a threat to itself. President Woodrow Wilson understood this when he decided in 1917 that the United States must join World War I. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt understood this when, after the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941, he resolved that the war to defend America must be fought not only in the Pacific but also in Europe, in alliance with the nations under attack by the Third Reich.

We remember that without President Ronald Reagan and America’s financial commitment, the collapse of the Soviet empire would not have been possible. President Reagan recognized that millions of enslaved people suffered in Soviet russia and the countries it had subjugated, including thousands of political prisoners who paid for their defense of democratic values with their freedom. His greatness lay, among other things, in his unwavering decision to call the USSR an “Empire of Evil” and to fight it decisively. We won, and today, the statue of President Ronald Reagan stands in Warsaw, facing the U.S. Embassy.

Mr. President, material aid—military and financial—can never be equated with the blood shed in the name of Ukraine’s independence and the freedom of Europe and the entire free world. Human life is priceless; its value cannot be measured in money. Gratitude is due to those who sacrifice their blood and their freedom. This is self-evident to us, the people of Solidarity, former political prisoners of the communist regime under Soviet russia.

We call on the United States to uphold the guarantees made alongside Great Britain in the 1994 Budapest Memorandum, which established a direct obligation to defend Ukraine’s territorial integrity in exchange for its relinquishment of nuclear weapons. These guarantees are unconditional—there is no mention of treating such assistance as an economic transaction.

Signed,

Lech Wałęsa, former political prisoner, President of Poland

Yep…A great man who deserves respect, but evidently a sentimentalist.
Fact is it’s a hard and harsh world, (he of all people should know that if anybody should)
We are (or Zelensky ) is dealing (or in fact not) with a ruthless harsh man who is far from a sentimentalist.

Fact is like it or not the US owe Ukraine nothing, it is considered that Biden overspent to the tune of BILLIONS…not millions, …on a foreign war with little chance of winning on their own.
Trump rightly or wrongly in essence, looks upon it as a debt and wants it paid back in some way.
That is his prerogative whether or not you (or me) think that is cricket.

Please no more stick I am a very delicate soul, easily upset and I aint sleeping because of it…I
I am only saying it as it is and stating what I see as harsh (and uncomfortable) facts.

Nah keep it coming if ya like, I’m loving it anyway .:face_with_tears_of_joy:

Copied from a friend from another site

Obviously Zelenskyy doesn’t have to resign because the orange moron wants him to.

But replacing him with Vitali Klitschko and then repeating that oval office meeting does have a certain appeal.

Just the handshakes could be fun.

Why sentimentalist?

That is a very loaded word.

Maybe those who come to the aid of a granny getting mugged are sentimental? The granny will not aid them in the future.
Those who try to stop attacks on kids? Or stop rapes of strangers?
Isn’t love of one’s country (the patriotism that you mention more than once) sentimentalism? No cash reward for being a patriot.

Using dismissive loaded terms against Lech Walesa in such a way is not a good idea.

I find it shocking…but not surprising… that Trump’s popularity in the USA has increased over the last few days. What is Donald Trump approval rating? What the polls say

On minerals deals, security for Ukraine, tariffs, Moorhouse put a video out yesterday.
He argues that Trump had Zelensky in his palm on Friday, he had a deal that gave USA the benefits of minerals for generations to come, in return for security, but wanted the benefits in return for nothing at all.
He likens it to finding a valuable work of art worth millions on sale at a few quid, but refusing to pay the few, demanding the picture for free, and walking away form it!
He also talks of how tariffs could backfire on US industry.

Do you really feel the need to argue with everything? :face_with_rolling_eyes:

‘Sentimentalist’…A person influenced more by emotions rather than LOGIC and/or FACT
That is how I define that word, which in my view describes this guy’s view.

Btw…What has that got to do with rescuing your Granny ffs, the only thing stopping anybody doing that is a mixture of reluctance of involvement and cowardice.

Do you REALLY want to give me English lessons as well as history lessons?..I will decide if the terminology I use is dismissive and loaded thanks.

Of course there is an element of sentimentalism in patriotism, but there is more importantly LOGIC.
Kamikaze pilots were ultimate patriots…but LOGICal? Nah…when you consider the FACT you are gonna die.

Sentimentalism in Patriotism…one needs to override the other, and especially in the scenario being discussed.

Maybe the American people are putting patriotism fact and logic over sentimentalism. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Well done!
Two opposite thoughts in two lines.

Yeah ok mate whatever…cba too busy at moment.
