Six great bus pictures Eddie, The Blackpool Leyland bus is directly opposite The North Pier, and has entered the promenade
on its journey to St Annes On Sea. The bus is leaning over on the drivers side, He must have entered the corner a bit lively.

Cheers, Ray.

A Liverpool Corporation tram, fleet number 903, unloading passengers at the bottom of Ranelegh Street
in the centre of Liverpool. The tram would then continue via Church Street, Lord Street, and then down
James Street to the Pier Head terminus. This tram was one of many with 2 bogies and 8 wheels. The last
trams that were delivered in the mid 1930s looked the same, but had 4 wheels on a rigid chassis.

It has just got to be photoshopped, the RT absolutely never broke down unless it was a puncture!

I grew up in this neck of the woods. I just cannot see where that bus route would be out in the middle of nowhere.

To be fair even today the area around Warley and Brentwood is more rural than urban.

Somewhere in the Great Warley area, maybe off route trying to get back to Hornchurch garage but has left the blinds set for Romford?

Seeing the Blackpool PD3 having a good old lean, reminded me of this turning into Epping High Street having just left the station, with self aiming some years ago. The RT has a most disconcerting sway if driven at a fair lick when fully loaded. The road to Brentwood is quite fast with a fair number of adverse camber bends. The experience is quite weird with the seat being fixed to the body and the steering wheel and pedals mounted on the chassis which moves sideways relative to the body as the bus leans. Looking in the mirror you can see most, if not all, of the rear outer tyre tread no longer covered by the mudwing.

Been there seen that. There was a driver known as Ginger on the 65 route ( now 71 ) who generally drove the RT everywhere like he’d stole it and often refused to stop at request stops and even missed out compulsory stops.Including usually the one on the exit of this roundabout leaving disgruntled passengers to wait.
I can remember more than once when standing while he was negotiating it sufficient for feet to be lifted off the floor while just holding onto the bars and passengers sliding off their seats.

My Father drove for Angela Coaches Lowford Southampton in the 70’s, not sure if that’s him in the picture but these MAN Setra’s changed the game as very reliable, quiet, on board WC & second drivers bunk.

They used to do a 24hr bullet to Lloret De Mar, Costa Brava, Spain via the P&O Dragon etc out of Southampton to Le Harve & I got a trip in the jockey seat.

I was confused why my Father bought 200 B&H on the way out as he smoked rollies, on getting to the Spanish border realised why. Oiled the wheels as time was tight.

I went the HGV route as didn’t like people talking behind my back although easy to get them all to nod together…
