This is all I have found up to now

:stuck_out_tongue:

That’s the place Malc, I remember the lane leading into the depot.

Im interested, and would love to find a shed full of (zb)

Edited for ■■■■■■ content. :unamused:

Read your Pickfords link too, fascinating, especially the bit about Bass, originally a haulier, selling up and setting up as a rival to his former customer. Bit like Eddie selling out to Nobby and using the money to start a chain of supermarkets.

forget about looking for mine malc, i’m thinking of three different places, BRS derby, co-op nottingham and i’m still not sure where the third place in my head is.

curnock, the leeds one was right by the side of leeds football ground
the motor in the 2nd black and white pic is on northampton plates.
the 1st b&w pic could be anywhere, a lot of the parcel yards were of a standard design, it looks like the one that used to be in peterborough, but it also looks like watford as well, it could even be the inside of the slough one in the pic below it.

I have put these in here because there are a few BRS surprises, let me set the scene.

It is Gloucester in 1960 and you can see if you can spot Shrek. :stuck_out_tongue:

and a couple of old random pics I found.

Now you see it, now you dont.

Wheel-Nut that Gloucester video is priceless. I have watched it twice to make sure that I did not miss my old Bedford van coming through. This was a regular route for me from Bristol to either South Wales or north country. No, I don’t think I am on there.

I have to agree with wessexman, priceless, the 2 BRS commer car transporters could easily be my Dad, the one loaded with the Rootes Group cars is definatley a Coventry depot one,as is the M/T one, I can’t make out the reg though, pity can anyone else. Fantastic!! I will have to show my Brothers, well done Wheelnut. I spent my days with my Dad in one of those Commers, even going out the very first day they put them on the road, they had ten to start with TJF 901 to TJF 910 they were all lined up in order, just after the M1 opened. we went to London , Victoria Dock with a load of Rootes cars, happy days.

Where’s the first video gone? !!!watching it last night, but this morning it had gone, I need a copy. Help.

As one of the comments on the old Gloucester film asked, what year was this?
I think it must have been after 1957 as there is a Morris 1000 in it and they didn’t come out until 1957. I am trying to think when the A40 Farina’s & Austin Metropolitans were both being made at the same time ( they were both on the back of the transporters) but my memory won’t oblige at the moment. I will have to consult some books. Brilliant film though, which brought back many memories of travelling through Gloucester in the 50’s on our way to and from Nuneaton to W-S-M from 1952 onwards.

I have just googled the two cars mentioned and the Metropolitan was made from Oct 53 to April 61 with the A40 Farina coming out in 58, so I would hazard a guess at answering my own question as it probably being about '58 or '59. Certainly late 50’s anyway.

Wheelnut I’ve got it again, thanks.
Kickstart the film is after 1960, because the first 10 commers BRS (Rootes Group) bought in 1959 had the grill with the ( what I call) wings at the top, the one in the film are the mouth organ type which were not running till after 1960.
