I just remember them,London Scottish, and Iāve seen some photos on here somewhere of them.IIRC they were a Nottingham based company.Iāll have a snek round for a pictureā¦
A painting of one of their Atki drawbars.āAUā was a Nottingham C.B.C. reg. and āLAUā was September 1948,so sheāll be getting on a bit now.Iāve a feeling they went into BTC/BRS ownership at nationalisation,I must have a look in my BRS book .

By gum Dave, that looks like the āFloral Hallā in the old shi---- err sorry,Covent Garden market.Last time I was in there was Feb 1969 loading Moroccan new potatoes for Sheffield market onto an AEC Mercury artic. You had to jacknife onto the dock at the last minute so other wagons could get past,so when you were loading the trailer used to rock about a bit at first until the load got further back.
And in all that time I never saw a Moroccan geezer, only thieving sods hanging around looking to nick gear off the wagon.Best thing to happen to that place was when it moved to Nine Elms, but I had been off the market job a long time by then, thank God!! Hated the joint.

Chris iāve done quite a bit out of there myself and it was an awkward place to maneuvre about in, never had bother with the burglars though never had nowt in the shed worth nicking and some of the heaps i took into there i would have payed the tea leaves to nick the lot.

hiya,
no false teeth in those days norm, iāll have you know i was a bit gorgeous, pleased to see you managed to return home in pocket, i used to go racing a lot at one time have done a lot of tracks over the years last time was about four years ago i did the grand national a weekend thing had to buy a pair of braces to keep my trousers up won so much money the weight was pulling them down i actually backed four winners including the big race winner best day ever came home more than a grand in pocket that doesnāt happen very often to someone who knows nowt about racing, the only information i had was put your money on what the irish lads are betting on and you wonāt go far wrong, it certainly paid dividends that day the nearest i get to the track these days is in ladbrokes i still like a bet but the glory days are gone, the ācā thingy certainly puts you in your place, anyway lets get back to BRS business people will be browned off with my small talk but i canāt think of anything at the moment will have to rattle the old brainbox a bit and see what i can come up with, help frenchy, come back all is forgiven.

hiya,
Was in and out of Trafford Park depot quite often in the 60s and came into contact with a couple of their wag and dragmen i was doing the same job on the odd occasion the drawbar outfits was ideal for the 45 gallon drum jobs which the Trafford Park lads did but every now and again other depots came in to help out, your grandads name doesānt ring any bells but it was a big place with a lot of motors and you very rarely saw the same face twice, but one of the depotās own drivers may well remember him.
thanks harry long retired.

hiya,
I think iāve put all my memories of my red and rust days on here, it needs imput from others to survive, i never took photoās so have nothing to offer in that direction and thats if i could post them, iāve read the the postās on here telling you a simple way to stick pics on but itās all double dutch to me, OK so ātwo short planksā springs to mind but if everybody was a bright spark what a miserable world we would live in, the place does need a few village idiots to which group i hopefully belong, the trouble is this topic is only only of interest to us old fogies who have worked for and can remember the BRS, the best outfit i ever worked for the others i did for where only āalso ransā but did pay the bills, if youāre looking in Frenchy have a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
