Yes KK,
I think your right about the Mercs, I don’t know about Blockleys except some ex. BRS drivers worked there.
I think this Ford may have been allocated to Wellington depot , i also remember those Seddon and AECs delivering to Burtons biscuits Cwmbran and a chocolate factory at Merthyr.
Ray I have only one comment to make about that rig, driving it nowadays, would be hell on the motorways, you would get cars going underneath you with all that space.

I don’t think this outfit would have caused any traffic jams Norm it could have floated to its drop if it had been a bit lighter empty!!! Dennis.

hiya,
You would have to have to have a pilots licence to operate one of these if they used a lightweight trailer, but only when loaded, you would sit on the bottom when empty.
thanks harry long retired.
A golden oldie again for all you BRS fans.

Looks as if this red and rust driver is sitting down on the job of roping .
Hi im looking for information on drivers who worked at BRS Kay St, Bolton in the late 60’s around 1968/69.
Also if any one has pictures of the trucks that operated out of kay st at that time?
Trying to find information about my father who was killed in an accident in 1969 driving for BRS Bolton. (Wilfred “Wilf” Boardman) Think it was around Oxford.
Thanks
Andrew Boardman

Cheers Dave.
hi, frenchy, i was a brs driver for the depot i tunstall stoke on trent in the early sixties,
used to drink in the juniper,!! i’d left brs well behind but remember all the old trucks, bmc threp’s were a late sixties machine,i thought the main strike for a pound an hour was in 1974, i worked for a scottish haulier at the time, gaffer just cut our hours, no overtime no nights out, made sure we were worse off, employed more drivers and did short changovers,
left and went back to an old employer who payed by the trip,
much better of in the end, were you around when the dock strike was on in 63,
spent a whole week queueing to do one drop, ministry man came and put lots of trucks off the road(privates) did’nt like it when i told him to check my old (comet)(brs)’
told him mine had’nt had a service for six months, and the brakes were ■■■■,
sent me out of queue to get it fixed, result, 2 more day’s queueingand a bill for tunstall depot, OH! YEAH, happy day’s eh! ta-ta stan-the-man, p,s, 19661 first pay slip. 48hrs
£8 2s 6d nightout 8shillings, 2 bob phone calls, no s.t.d then calls only through operator,
it’s only a piece of metal,
don’t fall in love with it,
Bump this one up again.boardy77 is looking for info regarding his Dads accident at BRS Kay St,Bolton.
That lovely old Foden that Stanfield posted got me thinking.
in the old wagon and drag days when you had Leyland, Atkinson, ERF, Foden and loads of others turning out 8 leggers, what was considered the ‘Scania’ of their time? And why?
Bet Harry’s got a nomination…
…and while I’m on this thread (not been around for a while) - anyone got any pics of Glasgow Depot (Lister Street) wagons? Mostly Mandators in my time but a few oldies were still about then too.
BRS Parcels (Dixon’s Blazes) had loads of light artics - TKs, LAD-cab Albions and even a few BMCs, all with Scammel couplings.
Don’t think I’ve seen any on here.
