Cowley branch, way way before my days .
Rootes Group cars in Cowley? Bet that was popular!
LeeJ:
any pictures of the old BRS Leeds depot, next to elland road?
That would be their depot in Brown Lane I think ? I used to deliver soap powder there from Proctor & Gambles on City Rd Newcastle in the 60/70s Era, Orrell & Brewster from Hawks Rd in Gateshead had the traffic, Regards Larry.
it was close to Brown lane but the warehousing was actually stood in the grounds off Elland Road, right next to the footie ground

Hi ROF ,it was Pressed Steel Fisher at both Cowley and Swindon that produced pressings for BMC and the Rootes group .
BRS at Swindon had Commer 2 strokes on that contract . regards Keith

Hoovers used to use this depot for storage and distribution in the 70s. When I worked out of there , when driving for Hoovers, I used to stay in Micclefield. Good digs and an easy days work either to North Eastern Electricity Board, in Gateshead I think, or Currys in Newark.

Yes I can remember the BRS In the depot next to the footie ground If I remember rightly, It was Castle Bros old place,Regards Larry.
My speaking of Castle Bros Does any of you oldies remember their green motors mostly 8 wheeler Leylands Flats & Tippers, They used to run sand & gravel from a quarry at Catterick to Ready Mixed Concrete Firms in Leeds , On Meanwood Rd I think ? They also had an office in Glasgow for their flat work operations, They did some work for Stewart & Lloyds Tube division, Regards Larry.

Hi, Keith,
Would that have been before BLMH bought Pressed Steel?
I drove at BRS Bedford, FH, until 1968 when I came to Western Australia. I suppose I saw the last of the best years of BRS. Unlike a lot of depots, Bedford was always looking for driver, probably due that our major cargo was bricks, bricks and bloody bricks. I am writing a series of stories about working for BRS that are being published in the Newsletter of the CVRTC. If you want to see them, please contact me at BRS FH66
Don’t remind me of those bl**dy bricks!
“Just put them over there, Driver. I’ll get a couple of blokes to help if they’ve got time”.
They usually arrived when you were down to the last hundred or so.
