I have been given a badge with"DRIVER" ON , this was given to me by aa ex BRS Oxford driver "idris highes " he did over 45 years for Brs . Its a neat badge and would look great on the lapel of a jacket of DRIVER of a restored Brs wagon .

I look forward to seeing you there. I occasionaly drove a sister to the Bristol nearest the camera back in the late 1960s. It was ex-BRS Bristol and registered YAE 34.
There are a couple of YAE reg. Bristols still about, they were originally from Avonmouth on the Philblack carbon black contract.
So they were- you’re either a lot younger than me or your memory has stood the test of time better!

Hi, Otto,
Late 60’s I would have been on bulk tippers, having returned from a couple of years living near Tenby. Unfortunately I “lost” the new Big J I had previously had new and was awarded an ex-contract Big J which had been on the Wall’s Ice Cream fleet, painted light blue- remember those? I pulled a heavy steel bulk trailer and the only time I had anything to do with Bridgend was to fly past it on the way to more exotic destinations like Briton Ferry or Margam!

You missed out passing Bridgend depot ROF, it had one of the best canteens going, I delivered Castrol oil products in there for BRS Oldbury depot.

Missed out on the Bridgend grub stop! However I do remember visiting the Team Valley one quite regularly when I used to deliver pig iron to Gateshead.

If your having withdrawl symptons ROF,have a drool over this load, should keep you quiet for an hour or two throwing this lot over the side if the Rams packed in,“truckfing” will give you a hand as he’s done a bit of handballing Pig Iron in his younger days !
