If/when we do re.join the EU , (more than likely under the likes of Keir Starmer), it will be a dark day for democracy (he said clutching his pearls) it will be nothing more than a manipulation and a total ignorance of a majority vote…Because the powers that be got an unexpected bloody nose from the plebs in the referendum.
So a manipulation was called for…to make us ‘see sense’, a bit like your ■■■■■■■ on your back but raining routine.

Democracy is not an event it is a process.

We joined the Common Market following a referendum. We left the EU following a referendum.
Joining again, if it follows a referendum will also be democratic won`t it?

Manipulation of a vote? A bit like the £350m on the bus? The promises of no downsides only upsides, no need to leave the customs area etc etc weren`t in any manipulative?

The powers that be…the disaster capitalists, financiers who offshore their money to avoid paying dues to their country, international media owners, got exactly what they wanted.
No bloody noses for them.

J

At first, the vote was called “Advisory” - meaning the Government could simply bin it, and ignore it.
Then when no brexit got done during the hung parliament years…? Boris comes up with “Let’s get Brexit done” and wins a thumping majority…
Then what I call the “Covid Hospital Bed Interrogation” gets Boris to change his mind, and drop Brexit altogether beyond what private industry implementations had already started.

Brexit - still isnt’ finished.
The Brexit Dividend - that money we STILL pay the EU to continue receiving over-priced food and “banking services” from them - comes out of that money, but we’re still paying it over, leaving us to borrow it from China instead for everyday spending like Civil Service salaries…
More “Brexit Dividend” could have come out of axing the foreign aid budget.
Instead, this has been INCREASED with arguably “money now being diverted away from the NHS to Ukraine” which gets to kill people in the UK (denied routine life-saving operations, access to a GP) in Russia (War would be over already, if we were not paying to deliberately prolong it) and of course Ukraine (in the areas occupied by Russia - you don’t really think Russia are shelling their own positions do you? Meanhile, how many have actually been taken out in Kiev by Russian hostile fire? Tens of people perhaps?)

Money wasted, Money costing lives. Evil Evil Evil.
NONE of us voted for that.
Indeed, had Brexit been completed properly - we could have said to the EU “Not getting involved in your foreign adventures… Tough!”
The NHS could have had the £350m a week extra from borrowing it from China - until we went and ■■■■■■ the bond-buying paymasters off by sanctioning their main trading partner - Russia.

“Money for Ukraine” - Not voted for by ANYONE
“No money for doctor’s dispute” - WANTED by EVERYONE.
Sunak and Starmer combined - don’t have a single “popular” policy between them.
As such, how can the result of the next election be anything other than another hung parliament, which the public will be told is “Bad for Britain”…

We need politicians to outline how they intend to pay for expensive stuff, how to raise money to pay for expensive stuff, and then how to ditch the unpopular exensive stuff - so the country ends up quids-in for years to come, no tax raises needed EVER.

Since you brought the subject up…
But since it is the New Year, I thought a Brexit benefit might be in order, so a 16 second clip for you. Enjoy.

I blame the new forum, was showing as a newish post to me, or maybe I’ve just managed to avoid this thread for 3 years!
See, I’m getting better, this only took a week. Night night, I’m going back to sleep

Goodnight, Rip Van Stuart

A grey windy and damp Sunday afternoon here, but I am starting to chuckle a wee bit.

I am sure that many of us can recognise the more blatant attempts at fiddling figures and skewing polls etc. And I reckon that many of us, no matter our views like it when things go pear-shaped for those that try to do any fiddling about.

So, a poll conducted by a news-outlet with a particular audience will probably have a very skewed response, won`t it?
Surprisingly it seems that the vociferously pro-Brexit Express does conduct such polls and they show support for rejoining the EU! Yep, even Express readers are not happy about Brexit.

But what if you had to pay money to a pro-Brexit media outfit? Surely only pro-Brexiteers would do that? So, any poll would be a foregone conclusion, wouldn`t it?
It is not so:

The gift that keeps on giving.

So, apart from the obvious waste of money, it apparently means food imports will not be using Portsmouth in the future.

This seems to be the quickest way to reach the end of this thread… Tag this post, then have a fast track link TO it.
I’m not scrolling through nearly 3000 posts otherwise…

Been collecting Bananas from Southampton since Brexit… Not collected from Portsmouth since I was at RM over a decade ago.
Too much former docklands built on with naff houses rather than Naffi-quality houses imo

Really interesting (to me at least) video from the FT.
It looks at the current state of play and at how it is being (or not very) a factor in the upcoming GE.

You need to leave a space at the end of the youtube link to make it embed, I think…

How does it go?
Rees-Mogg? “Act of self harm”?
A N Other “it’s all over years ago”?
David Davis “No downsides only considerable upsides” …That deserves a special mention…here…https://yorkshirebylines.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/ddd1000.pdf

But here is the reason for this post yet another Johnson “oven ready” part of the deal bobs to the surface like an unwelcome and particularly smelly…

To add: join this to the imminent closure of the facility at Pompey.
Food imports? Will they be banned on that route? Less choice and further miles for Spanish loads. Those who have run that way will appreciate the extra time involved.

What are we doing still importing it from the EU then?
We’re supposed to be self-sourcing by this point, from around the former commonwealth states in particular…

We never left. It’s about time the Tories went into oblivion with a last-minute confession to that truth.

On the same note, the reason we never got the promised “Brexit Dividend” - was because Boris decided to change sides, and work for Ukraine as “Churchill” instead of Britain as “Boris”.
Ukraine - got the money, and the rest of the Foreign Aid budget (to China, India, etc.) is remains in place.
That 13billion per year - was supposed to be where the £350m a week came from…

Boris clearly used Brexit to win a majority, and then rejected his own Tory voters, following deep state agendas instead, to his eternal shame. When someone threatens your family - you stand up and call it for what it is like Trump would - NOT completely change your personality, and throw your entire career away on purpose…
Even Cameron didn’t manage to do that in the end, as he’s now back as an unelected Foreign Secretary to further waste that 13billion a year we’ve still not grabbed for ourselves in this country…

I hope the Tories get busted down to double-digits - I really do! :rage:

(I don’t need to vote Labour to achieve that, as I’ve already been told by Labour activists “We don’t want your vote - you’re a UKIP supporting ■■■■!”)

Also, I’m told a vote for RUK is a vote for Labour anyways, so I guess I have absolutely nothing to lose by voting RUK now, as if Labour get in - that’s the fault of Labour voters, and not me as I didn’t vote for Starmer’s lot - did I?

Well yes, I blame the UK farmers.
They are sadly under performing on the Olive oil and oranges areas.
Tomatoes are also mostly produced in Spain and Holland. To fix this issue I am sure you would love to have a plastic greenhouse erected next door to you.

The ex-Commonwealth countries?
Tomatoes taking 5 weeks in a ship from Australia? Or using a ton of kerosene to fly a ton here.

Of course we have left, food would be cheaper if we hadn’t!

The “promised Brexit Dividend”?
That was a promise from Johnson!

Nonsense.

What’s this? You don’t believe all that aspect of foreign spending/donations/laundered charity - still exists?
It’s accepted that it DOES exist, and it’s still being paid over.
£13billion a year. Still. NOT a conspiracy here.
Don’t think that it must be “Fake News” because otherwise the BBC would have covered it, when we know too that the BBC gaslight pretty much everything as well…

The only thing that has made EU imports more expensive - is the drop and subsequent non-recovery of the Pound.
Such changes in exchange rates - are supposed to encourage people to buy cheaper from where the exchange rate is more favourable, also leading to home-sourcing stuff if it is the pound itself that happens to be the weakest of a basket of currencies…

The BANKS did that to Brexit just like the BANKS are going to help Labour at the end of this year. The BANKS owe Labour for the taxpayer paid bailout of 2008 don’t forget.

Why do you think that inflation has more than halved, and we’ve not even seen a single interest rate cut as of yet?
Perhaps if there was an earlier election
What a fiddle!

You can put me off voting Tory, but you can’t get me to vote Labour, except by the backdoor of “A vote for RUK is a vote for Labour”.
We’ve got nothing to lose this time - if Labour get in, we can look forward to lower interest rates, and a managed decline in the cost of living, set up to make Starmer look good in his first year in office as “Deep State Approved” he’ll be… No plans to do anything the public actually wants, but LOADS of plans to further issues we don’t give a toss about - on both Left and Right of politics!

Brexit has pushed up drivers wages… We wouldn’t have got that if we were on Cameron’s third term by this point, I suspect… Oh wait!

If the UK really wants to tinker with interest rates - they need to change direction on actual banking policy, rather than make partisan promises they might not be able to keep…
If the rest of the world acts with ALARM at Keir Starmer taking over in October - then watch the Pound sink rather more than it did after Brexit…
All it would take - is Starmer to leave “undone” the purging of Anti Semites from the Labour party, of which there are many.
The Banking system, deep state-run or not - has rather a lot of Jewish people associated with it, don’t forget.
I do hope this country doesn’t become a Robber State in order to attract foreign exchange/investment before long…
