Brexit stuff in one place [MERGED]

Blimey where has those 2 months gone ? Is it nearly the end of March already ?
Things can change and moved back , so in my eyes this is just scare mongering till it happens

Sent from my truck

Scare mongering? Naivety? Blinkered?

Nothing wrong with looking at both sides of the coin.

Its ok saying “until it happens” but what if it does? Does it not pay to be prepared? If someone tells you there’s a tree blocking the road ahead do you just drive on regardless because they might be scare mongering?

Seriously people on either side are so entrenched in their own world of Brexit they’re incapable of seeing both sides :unamused:

If everyone turns around because they were told there is a tree blocking the road, it will be there forever. I would carry on and see if its been moved,

Could you just clarify something for me Mr Kloss…Brexit Taliban?
Where, or what, is the connection between an Afghani Islamic fundamentalist para military and political movement and a British member of the public who voted for Brexit?

I’m fairly confident that many members of our armed forces were in the electorate,.a couple of which that I know personally,.and I’m certain, that they would be grossly offended to be equated to this organisation,.after having fought against them for a number of years.

If you are going to attempt to make a point and form an argument,.at least apply some sort of grown up logic, instead of pure drivel . :bulb:
Sorry to succumb to responding to you, after I said I could not be actually arsed, but I think some clarification needs to be applied here, to your ridiculous analogy.
Cheers…

Mate, Robroy, if you don’t understand that, if you don’t understand the meaning and why it perfectly applies to you and most of your Brext comrades, than there is no hope for you, sorry mate, I can’t help, you need to look for help somewhere else.

I am fairly confident, that if your military mates can’t understand it, despite dealing with them while being there, then you and your militery mates, you need to get together, and look for specialised help, spending more time on trucknet won’t help, you need to look for help somewhere else.
This term has been trown around quite a bit over the last 4 years, but I don’t think you are going to be ever able to understand the meaning of it and how it applies to youa nd your mates.

Here is as much logic as I could possibly apply responding to your childish question, sorry Robroy, despite trying my best, I can’t help you , in this matter anymore.
You and I, know very well, you are not sorry about sucumbing to replying to my question, you love getting yourself involved in arguments that don’t require from you to poses any knowledge about the subject you are going to be discussing, you love these kind of subjects where you just let your immagination work freely, where can apply your freestyling, and fill page after page with your drivel, that’s what you were doing in the golden days, now long gone, of Brexit, where nothing was certain and you could claim absolutely anything you wanted.

Sorry, to bring you down to earth, Robroy, these days are long gone, now a lot is known, we have some hard facts of how Brexit, the easiest deal in history has turned out to be, that’s why you and your Taliban (oh, I shouldn’t be using this word anymore, I’m confusing you too much) mates are no longer active on brexit related threads.

How sad it all turned out to be , Robroy. The longer I type, the more I start feeling sorry for you. Dealing with it all, must so hard on, plus I am trowing these very confusing terms, such as Taliban Brexiters, that confuse your mind even more.
I am so bad to you, Robroy, am I not? Confusing you so much with some so very difficult to undersand terms that I use.
I need to improve

sadly, I have just realised I have made a mistake , for which I want to appologise everybody involved in these conversations.
The deal was signed not a couple of months ago, but on the 23rd December last year, which makes it only, what, 6 weeks old and not a couple of months.
Somehow nobody picked on this mistake, hmmm.
I guess, for some people, a couple of months ago, sounds better than 6 weeks ago, in case of signed very good Brexit deal, which suddenly has become not so very good.
Just a guess
Every little helps, in it?

We have left, its only a matter of time until Italy, Spain and Greece leave as well. The E.U. burearocracy became to big for its boots. A gravy train for the unemployable rich kids.

I could quite easily come back at you with a much more educated and grammatically correct response than what you have attempted, which would show you up to be at best a bit eccentric, and at worse a bit stupid, but you have managed to display that yourself much better than I could ever attempt…so I won’t bother.

Lol this thread has derailed so hard.
Was meant to so soley about the import issue.

But yea, I think the EU will soon fragment.

Ok, crying aside about another brexit thread…

What do you guys think the end result will be?
Obviously the industry will no longer be reliant on an influx of eastern european drivers. So, how do you think that will impact the industry?

Good for drivers? Bad?

I am cautiously optimistic about it.
That being said I think it will be a good few years before we see any benefits of it.

Also do you think it will mean more EU work will open up for drivers?
I remember when ever I wento to Transmec in thurrock there yard was basically a caravan park for romanians waiting for jobs.
Will it now be harder for foreign plated trucks to basically stay in the UK doing UK work?

This is not about brexit being good or bad in general terms. Just how it will impact us.

Companies will realise that they need to invest in keeping employees and getting new ones. The more forward thinking will improve wages, improve conditions, put in driver training schemes. Those that don’t will go to the wall as a combination of increased costs that come with having to employ people nobody else wants and running out of people willing to work for them so they can no longer function. And given the average age of lorry drivers and the numbers leaving compared to the numbers even applying for a provisional it’s going to be sooner than later.

A lot of people say it can’t happen but I witnessed it personally when I was at Reed Boardall. At the turn of the millennium they’d burned through pretty much everyone locally with a HGV licence and even the army boys at Catterick wouldn’t work there because the reputation had spread within the garrison as a lot of squaddies used to do weekend work at RB. The attitude was low pay and if they could have you working 24hrs a day, 365 days a year they would. Eventually it reached a tipping point where they’d effectively run out of drivers at a time they were looking to expand the cold storage. A drivers committee was formed and basically told the management how it was. The change was quite impressive to see. Almost overnight the 24hr/365 rubbish was gone and they had several wage rises over the period of 18 months, the first as I recall being over 10%. They changed enough that it ended up being something I only did on agency when it was quiet to one of the handful of companies I’ve gone permanent.

So what else…
A return to unaccompanied trailers to and from the EU which will open up opportunities for owner drivers around port areas. The days of foreign trucks being able to stay here and do UK work for days or weeks on end are done with.

Every thread I’ve read just turns into Brexiteers Vs remainers.

I’m trying see what people’s view is on the possible benefits it will have for us as drivers.

FFS, how many more threads on the subject?
It’s been done to death, no wonder the traffic on this forum is becoming non existent when the same drivel is trotted out every few days.

@Robroy

You are a bit of drama queen Robroy , aren’t you?
You could have , would have, why don’t you just do it, let us see what an ecceptionaly, multi talented truck driver you.
I’ll be wainting Robroy, don’t let me lose all faith in you

Okay Hk I’ll answer you Yes there were Tories who didn’t accept the vote as well as Labour and yes they should have accepted it too, politicians on all sides should have worked together to get a deal because it would have given a better deal by having input from all sides. It also would have presented a united front to the European negotiators and cleared up confusion about what the UK wanted.
You say you only dip in here every now and then nothing wrong with that, except you get to miss things, I posted last year that I would have preferred May’s type of deal so no, no sudden change of mind.
You continually lump Brexiteers together, yet just as people who voted remain are a varied bunch so are people who voted to leave, stereotyping people in a debate just debases your argument.

Final point when you like to think of yourself as intellectually superior to the people you are debating with at least raise your spelling to a higher level than a primary school child:
Torres, unsure what the ex Liverpool and Chelsea striker has to do with Brexit

Tallaban, perhaps an off shoot of the Taliban as you seem to be the only person to know about them would you be kind enough to inform MI5/MI6 of their intentions.

Whay, again unsure of this do you mean way, weigh or whey, maybe this is local slang to where you live, if so could you explain it’s meaning.

Been an entertaining few hours engaging with you, you will never understand why I voted for Brexit, not because you are thick but because you don’t want to, you believe yourself to be superior because of your views and those who have different views to be inferior. A fine example of a liberal only being liberal if you agree with him

Exports down by truck 68% in January on January 2020, granted we have Covid but still a massive drop.

Unions didn’t want Brexit, Tories and money men did. Make of that what you will

Fishing (the industry it was meant to protect) has had a rough start. God knows what will happen to the service industries (like haulage) that it made no provision for.

Government already pushing for relaxation of working conditions.

Government already writing to EU for transition period to be reinstated in Irish Sea

Does Conor actually think unaccompanied trailers will replace the flow of traffic? JIT is the way we do things, even his beloved Howdens run motors empty to Runcorn from Avonmouth each night empty to load because that is cheaper than keeping stock in store.

 What a strange individual you are.
What are you waiting for exactly??..It was ME who asked YOU a question :bulb: .
Simply to explain your ridiculous analogy to …The Taliban, used in the context of Brexit. which you are clearly incapable of explaining.

Just going on and repeating the use of the term in your next child like badly constructed post, does nothing to explain it or answer my question.

So then you go on to attempt to avoid and cloud the issue by coming back with a smokescreen of meaningless and immature insults.
Then STILL evading the question put to you, you then continue to drone on about ‘how much help’ I need,…and how sorry you are for me :open_mouth: .

Thanks for the concern, but seek your own help with your suspected neuroticism that evidently comes a cross in most of your posts first, that you clearly need, before worrying about me…I’m fine but cheers anyway.

To sum up (and end) this bizarre conversation (not interested anymore in you trying to explain my query) you manage to type a whole plethora of long winded posts of child like balderdash and at the same time say absolutely nothing…then ironically call ME a drama queen…ok right.

It’s been an …errrr ‘interesting’ exchange, trying to interpret and analyse your unbalanced ramblings mate.
