It’s why I’ve more or less, packed in motorcycling.
There’s just too many camera’s.
robroy:
@Franglais.
You appear to approve of these guys who get a hard on if they happen to ‘‘catch’’ a motorist or truck driver doing something wrong on their cameras that they have deliberately purchased to pursue their new hobby of ‘Traffic Marshalling’'…Me personally ?., I freely admit to hating them, and hope that they end up in hospital whilst pursuing their new hobby of snooping as a pastime , or better still when their purposely self created traffic scenarios go wrong and not according to plan.
Don’t know about you Franglais, but I ain’t perfect (yep I know, it’s hard to believe is that ) so there has been the odd time or two when maybe I’ve made a stupid move or two in my car, maybe been ■■■■■■ off by somebody in my truck and showed a bit of aggression, maybe even a couple of road rage incidents when I was younger and a lot less tolerant, I’m human, I’m fallible.
So all these past incidents have ended up being minor non events, and everybody just got on with their day.
But… if I’d have had some little sh pointing a camera at me, for no other reason than to ‘‘gain evidence’’ as you say , even though it had nothing to do with him, then I reckon my road rage/speeding/minor driving offences would more than likely escalate to ABH. (at least he would have got his way and I would have been locked up, but maybe not the way he planned it eh?So what about you Franglais, are you perfect?
I’m sure you’ve been susceptible to the odd unwise move on the roads like the rest of us, so if you had been Mr Trafficmarshall’s latest example, …
What would it be?Would it be…
‘‘Fair cop guvnor/banged to rights’’ by your ‘gained evidence’’Or would it be.
‘‘Who tf was that little 2hat with the camera, I want to ram it up his arse’’.
Just asking.
Nowhere have I said I’m perfect, or even near it.
If I’m caught for my sins, there is no-one to blame but me.
That doesn’t mean I’ll be exactly overjoyed about it, but hey-ho, such is life!
It does mean I would try to get over the inevitable feelings I would have against those who caught my wrong doings. I don’t blame speed cameras for any lack for any respect for speed limits. I blame the driver, and if that’s me…Not happy, but as I said, only me to blame.
.
If you wanna tell me that some people have sad lives, and spend too much time waiting to trap speeders on their streets, then I might agree with you. I do feel rather sad for their lack of interest in other things. Yeah, I do shake my head slowly when I see them.
I don’t choose to blame them for my faults, nor any penalties I pay for my errors.
And to make your day [emoji3]
If you do nowt wrong, you’ve nowt to fear!

Ok you say that, but in the new year , and if you actually find yourself either paying a fine reluctantly out of your hard earned, or worse, stood in the dock, and it’s purely 100% down to one of these low life ■■■■ s ‘‘gaining evidence’’ and if they had not been snooping g it would have been just another non event, …You’ll maybe get a lightbulb moment thinking ‘‘You know what, I see Rob’s point now’’ and then if you continue to think, as you said, ‘‘Hey ho such is life, only me to blame’’ with a big grin on your face…
Then you’re a better man than me mate.

No, I won`t have a big grin on my face if/when I get caught. But eventually I will get around to seeing that I am responsible for my own actions, and I am the one to bear the consequences.
The way we get caught isnt the issue. It is never 100% down to anyone else gathering evidence, is it? If I didn
t do wrong, there would be no evidence to be found.
We arent talking of false, or altered evidence; we aren
t talking of provocation, or crash for cash. We are talking of speeding and being caught for it.

We’re going around in circles here this is back to the point where I say ‘‘But it ain’t the job of these saddos, it’s the job of the Police’’.
So in effect you actually expect me to believe, that in this hypothetical scenario (irrespective whether or not, if it was a case of… ‘’ My fault for doing wrong’’ and ''If I didn’t do wrong etc etc ‘’ and ‘‘If you ain’t doing wrong nothing to worry about’’ and all the other numerous slogans, sound bites and buzz words you use to justify your views) where you are up before the bench, …that at no point, and not just a small part of you would feel bad towards, and hope that something horrible happened to the arse hole who dropped you in the crap, who’s ‘‘evidence’’ was the catalyst that the whole case was built on.
Aye right I really believe that.
You’re either deluded, pulling my plonker, or you’re a paragon of virtue mate.

Yep. I get that.
Track riding isnt the same as cruising on open roads enjoying the scenery and variation in the road etc. Gotta find a less crowded environment I guess, the 2020
s UK mostly ain`t that any more.
I sold my Pan last year…

Well, as I said, I wont be grinning in the dock, nor as I write that cheque. And it may take a while, but since it was only me pushing down on the loud pedal, only me to blame. Maybe I will be kicking myself for getting caught, but why blame someone else? And (going in circles, as you say) it isn
t someone else who started it off, is it? It is the speeder with the heavy right boot who started it, not a pedestrian (no matter what their life may/not be) with a camera.
OK, the first few minutes I may be peeved at others, but blame them, and wish harm to them?
Blame them for my actions?
No, I don`t think so.

Ah right, question answered you ARE a paragon of virtue.
But you STILL miss the point, I don’t mean blame them for your actions, but for the result of those actions and the circumstance you find yourself in…mostly because of their actions.
Nobody is disputing that YOU would be to blame, it was YOUR actions that YOU were being punished for it, and all the rest of it.
Point is you did not ‘‘get caught’’ as such did you?
You are accounting and answering for YOUR actions not because of the Police, but because of some ■■■■■ for whom it had absolutely nothing to do with, or had any bearing on his life…
Who knows? he maybe even broke the speed limit and broke traffic laws himself, all the way on his way to grass you up to his mates in the Old Bill,…‘He who is without sin’’ etc etc.
I keep going back to the same point…Job of the Police.
Now if it was me, I’ve already told you how I would feel towards the unspeakable one, and yeh, towards myself.
I may even feel a bit bad towards the Police if I’m honest, even though as you say it was ultimately down to me, but.at least I know where I am with the Police , and what their reason for being is, and get off them what I expect…that is the way I see it anyhow, …so we’ll never agree.
The devlish and bad side of me really hope’s that you fall victim to one of these tossers, just so you will see what I mean.
I’m wondering how much longer it will take before Police Cars make routine stops and actually hand out citations at the roadside for:
(1) Being on the phone at the wheel
(2) Looking down in their lap, fiddling with their Ipad or Iphone
(3) Numberplate so grubby that it is obvious that the otherwise new car has been deliberately left with grime on the numberplate as to obscure speed camera images and dodge ‘C’ zone charges.
(4) Back light out on numberplate, despite it being a 68 plate car or newer…
(5) Headlamp completely out, both full beam and dipped beam filaments totally not working.
(6) Driving around in rush hour when it’s actually fully dark - with no lights on at all
(7) Cyclicsts wearing nothing hi viz, and riding about with no lights
(8) Motorists driving well above or below 50mph through the roadworks. In the fog the last thing you want to do is come up behind a car doing 20mph there in your artic - right?
Ed: When you’ve already reasonably slowed down to 35-40mph yourself just in case someone unwisely pulled up completely for no apparent reason…
(9) Motorbikes or boy racers overtaking you in residential areas at high speed, merely attracting local residents to come out and look at the artic rather than the noisy bike that’s just “disturbed” them.
…and of course (10) Trucks parked under motorway bridges, where the police don’t even seem to bother moving them on any longer.
Do EU regulations still trump UK law enforcement then?
“Mustn’t let English Plod interrupt my daily rest. English drivers so much as parking in car park bays meanwhile - can expect a hefty fine for even attempting something similar, in an actual better place to park…”
If I were traffic policing - I’d pull each driver over, and give them a chance to “put it right, then and there” before handing out the ticket. That way, there’s then no defence of “that bulb must have onlyl just blown officer - honest!” I don’t think it is a legal requirement to carry “replacement bulbs” at any level of driving. Correct me if I’m wrong, and if I am - as to why Plod isn’t enforcing an obvious safety breach - whilst pulling other drivers over for “less obvious” aspects of traffic violations let’s say…
Today alone on facebook ive seen the following comments -
-
When entering a motorway you have right of way. Its the motorway traffic who have to give way
-
The light was clearly yellow so he did nothing wrong going through it
-
Its illegal not to use your indicator, even if no one is behind you
Also, 10% of drivers believe the left hand lane is for lorries and the correct normal lane for cars is the middle one.
You want people with that level of knowledge having the “power” to decide if you’ve broken the law and should be reported to the police and prosecuted?

I’ve just been watching a facebook video of a lorry driver using a hand held device to record people doing “illegal” u turns in Bradford. Surprisingly enough, it’s not going well for dash cam divvy!

Those people have the right to report to the police.
They do not have the right to decide who does/doesn’t get prosecuted.
.

They also get to sit on juries, and vote.

I didnt mean they got to decide, I meant they decided in their opinion so sent the video in.
And my point is, these are the people who will be sending in hours and hours of footage which will eat up police resources.
Only those who at least know the law should be policing the roads, not some clown with a camera and no idea of whats right and whats not
