Bradford hauliers

philberg182:
Didn’t Bakers F12 get smashed up ■■? I seem to remember it ending up in Crossroads yard at Birkenshaw when I was a young apprentice there early 80s but I may be mistaken

I remember 1 of Bakers getting rolled over on the A65 on the night trunk ,it could have been the F12 i`m not sure who was driving it but i did hear a tale :open_mouth:

I have a photo of the Mammoth Minor being loaded at Gee Bee pop when i find it i will post it.

Any Bradford lads drive for Leathers Chemicals?
A firm I worked for bought a second hand AEC MK5 Mandator of them,AKU 384B. It cracked on a bit but put a rod through the side on the A38 Burton by-pass,1969 just afore Xmas,we hadn’t had it five minutes.

I remember we sold them some Scania 110’s from B+W, NAK 715H was one I recall , I also rebuilt one that had a very bad smash that needed a cab & chassis change :open_mouth: , this had stood in the yard months as Scania wanted to see the damage to it.

I can remember seeing an artic which ran off the A 65 between J 36 ( M 6 ) and Kirkby Lonsdale in the middle 1980`s.
I think it was a Foden ( ), owned by either Bakers , - or Jeffries of Otley , as both liveries are similar.

Cheers, cattle wagon man.

Hi All. My name is Alan Bennett and i worked for leathers chemicals in the 1960s alongside other Bradford drivers like…Harry Adams (little apple) Peter scollick…Colin Connley…and a few more whose names escape me now,at 73 the brain cells are fading. I also worked for AOne doing continental work. I have to say i enjoyed my working life as a driver, and sometimes miss it. Best wishes to all you old drivers.

happy new year to you all
