Blood, Sweat and Broken China (the Removals thread)

I know its a working truck but he just laughted and said its not my truck , then moans about wages so low .

Hi Jakey

Since being stopped driving I have to rely, often, on busses. Travelling to Newcastle the last two weeks I have cringed when the Ariva Double Decker I am on bangs through a strong tree’s branches on the near side. It is at a point where he is joining the A1M at Birtley and some fools from the Highways agency have put down bollards, for no apparent reason and poor devil, he has no choice as the tree branch is unavoidable to the high bus and no doubt the paint on the nearside will suffer. In fact I sometimes wonder if a side window will not crack as the noise is so loud.

Our good drivers always cut back straying branches with saws where they could not tie them back on narrow lanes and driveways, but for every good one you have two not so good and it used to annoy me when I saw scrapes and marks on the nearside top of vans we had.

Have Robinsons changed their livery to blue and white instead of blue and grey, or is it just a trick of light on this photo. If they haven’t perhaps they should as it certainly looks better.

Carl

Hi Carl, I think its still grey carl ,i will find out , if it is white it wont be for long as the white will turn grey with dirt . :open_mouth:

“problem is he cant carry and talk”

Haha :grimacing: , I know exactly what you mean. One of our regular porters liked a chat, especially with the ladies.

Thanks Carl, Jakey, Cold up north and others for occasionally giving this thread a kick-start, afraid I’ve been a bit slack with it recently so it was nice to see it near the top of the pile when I logged on.

Two of Luckers

Hi Carl , five oceans is a new firm around Oxford with plenty of overseas removals , not had to quote against them as far as I know ,Lukers motors do plenty of mileage in there life time as they do lots of Swiss moves .They started with one truck with Mr Luker himself ,dad knew him very well and he lived well in to his 90s and only6 passing away about two years ago .
