Another one here, going back a bit, Albright & Wilson, remember them?
What happened to them their turquoise tankers were a common sight on our roads .

There’s one for you from the 70’s, Lloyds of Birmingham Overland (LOBO), my mate Del Martin drove for them doing M/E, it’s one of his pics. Haven’t got a clue whereabouts in Brum they were, he lived in Sussex (still does) and used to drive up to collect the motor each trip. I hope the pic jogs some memories!.
Regards,
Mark.

Great Picture Brookie.
My continental mentor also called Brook drove for LOBO
George Brook who eventually became Landfast International and had some “well known names” pulling his trailers. Biffo may shed more light on the history of Lloyds

How about L.P. Transport. Les Pottinger was very keen on Cradley Heath Speedway, did a lot of sponsoring in the '60s & '70s and lead a campaign to save the stadium in the '80s. Think his son took over but does anyone know if they are still going?
I dont know about LP Transport but Cradley Heath and the Pottingers are still very much involved in Speedway with Will who is the son I think.

Cheers wheelnut,
" George" Brook is a traditional name for my family lineage, grandfather, great grandfathers etc for years. I’m called Mark, so don’t know what went wrong there! I look forward to some more history of LOBO and I’ll pass it on to my mate.
Regards,
Mark.
I used to load copper roll from here, for Duracell in Leuven area,Belgium. They had a right “jobsworth” on the weighbridge at Kings, real miserable git who enjoyed making you wait for everything he could! Nice load though, all on pallets so no “stripping out” or roof off.
Regards,
Mark.

Hi Brookie,
LOBO were based in Bordesley Green. My father (Ron Slater) did M/E for them for a few years including driving the F12 in your picture. Last I heard it was sold to a company in Malta. They also had a DAF 2800 and a green F89 (with a country and western frieze painted on the doors if I remember rightly)
I’ll try to see if he has any photos and get them on here
Dave

Was the Boundary the one on the left heading towards Brum down A41 Holyhead Road, not far off the M’way junction?
Yes, thats the place Chris, it was a filling station also at one time, right on the border of Brum and West Brom hence the name.
A 24hr cafe, in the early hours was used by ladies of the night and police alike !

I thought that might be it Trev.I used it now and again in the 80s when I was on nights for Glass Glover. To say there was a selection of clientele would be an understatement, very interesting .
I never used it in the daytime but hopefully it was a bit cleaner than at night,I never caught owt so it can’t have been that bad.
That is a great photo of one of Reg Coopers F86,s. does anyone have any photos of Coopers. The GPO made a fortune out of Reg as he was always throwing phones over the office and pulling the wires out of the wall.
