I notice that the BRS S-types were fitted with the “narrow” bumper. Was this to save a couple of pounds of weight or a couple of shillings in price?
The wider bumper was a dealer fitted extra, fitted loads of them to new S types.

Cheers, matey, I was beginning to wonder if anyone had the answer!
All ours had the full width bumper- maybe the guv’nor thought it would make the front wings last longer.
Thought I should add a picture of our Bedford O Type (1952) restored in the colours of our dad’s old company Procea Products of Irthlingborough, Birmingham and Colnbrook. The restoration isn’t perfect as his old Bedford had a Perkins P6 diesel engine, ours has the 6 cylinder petrol engine but it looks right !! If you’re questioning why the different registration numbers, our 'old man’s original number was HYU 450 but upon registering the motor we were given 491 XUW.

I enjoyed writing them but there was far more went on of a humourous nature but just too many words to put into a magazine story. I’ve started writing the story of my life in transport, mainly on the funny side of the job. It’s a long haul though but hopefully I will find a publisher fingers crossed. Many thanks for your kind words.
Luton sleeper by the look of the window in the farthest from camera! Regards Chris

About the same applies to the Bedford TK and KM cabs Pete, useless for anyone over 5’ 8’'. The bloke driving the one in the pic is only visible from his eyes down.
Cheers Dave.
