Stay warm in Middleton Dan , at least you know how to deal with a bit of snow there . I think Buxton is about cut off , again , it’s blowing a gale up here and I’ve got a 5foot drift across the drive , good job we don’t need to go out . Dave

I have a sprinter pick up on route to the forth rd bridge carrying a plough for them tonight ,Anyone know if he’s best coming back down the A1 which is where he is at the min or try over by biggar to the 74 back to Ashbourne Derbys ? Any info about either route much appreciatedBack down the A1 or along the M8 to Bellshill and down to the Raith then M74. Avoid anything that isn’t a motorway as it’s a mess up here.
He got back here at 8 am

The situation on the M62 Eastbound between Junction 19 and 22 as of 09.45 today…
M62 Eastbound is still closed between Junctions 21 and 22 some drivers saying they have not moved since 07.15
M66 Closed in both directions until 16.00 due to a 16 vehicle pile up…
I’m snowed off till monday
In the completely ridiculous situation where the company I’m working for (large chain supermarket/ convenience) have not had the foresight to use anti freeze screen wash in the trucks, frozen solid, they keep giving me jobs and I just keep taking them back, it’s not gonna get any better I keep telling them!!

Opened my front door to be greeted by two feet of snow!0
we run a feeding station and thankfully all we’re greeted by are all the usual feral moggies…
Well I’m out again tonight at 9pm. In a 18t with a night heater this time. I’ll need it. I’m a relief driver shunting stuff between jlr sites at castle bromwich and solihul. So I’ll be doing no real mileage. But it will be cold. And I’m not meant to be finishing until 6am. So will be driving back and forth with heavy snow - oh the fun.
Got an email today from agency about last nights job. Someone has damaged the light cluster on the puddle jumped I was in yesterday and ‘do i know anything?’ At the end of the shift, I had to leave it on an icy road. So I can only presume someone has slid into it. Email was at lunch - so maybe company man did it and is blaming agency dude. But it’s clear I’ll be blamed for doing it - which is rubbish.
Going to be dressing real warm tonight. Two hoodies and two pairs of socks - sod strapping pallets down at night in this weather.

Ours had anti-freeze screenwash in them and still froze. The ones on my car didn’t but only because it has heated washer jets.

My understanding is that the antifreeze in screenwash evaporates at much lower temperatures than plain water, so it evaporates at the washer jets leaving plain water behind, which then freezes.

I might put my scuba diving undersuit on. Closest I have to thermals. It was brutal last night and I don’t want to face that again.
Dont forget to pay some into the kitty for the fuel you burn whilst keeping warm in your employers truck.

Except I didn’t do that. I said I’d rather use my credit card to put fuel in if they agreed to pay it back.
Either way - have a great evening mate. I’ll be doing my best to earn a few quid as usual.
Thats me now till Monday when the worst will hopefully be over. Im sick of the snow, but I
m a lot more sick of hearing people complaining about other peoples driving. Whether on here, in the drivers bait room or at customers sites.
Were great at running ourselves down. Our infrastructure is not geared up to this weather, (we
ve got really deep drifts where I live).
When comparing our great country with Russia or Scandinavia its worth bearing in mind that we are a ■■■■ site more crowded than they are. One truck which comes to a slippy halt on a hill can cause massive tailbacks…then you get people moaning saying these idiots cant drive! Also, what gives anyone the right to declare that *their* speed is the *correct* one, everyone else is either going too slow or driving too fast like an idiot. My 17yr old daughter just passed her test 2 months ago and she
s bound to be one of the over cautious ones. Its scary to think of some ignorant sod in a 44tonner tailgating her. I think theres very little tolerance shown towards others these days, its not as if anyone could possibly get into bother for taking too long on a job when its so snowy. We have all the H&S cards in our hands. Also, the depth of the snow is mainly irrelevant. All these photos showing "a mere" 2" of the stuff does not show the packed ice underneath. We only drive on the top bit, so does it matter if it
s 2" or 2 bleedin` feet?
Slow down. Stay safe.

That’s a sensible comment to make on here!
Wait for the flack !

You’ll regret not strapping when something goes over and you end up handballing the lot onto an empty pallet, strap it mate for your sake and everyone else’s, it will take 5 mins!
