Well I’m out again tonight at 9pm. In a 18t with a night heater this time. I’ll need it. I’m a relief driver shunting stuff between jlr sites at castle bromwich and solihul. So I’ll be doing no real mileage. But it will be cold. And I’m not meant to be finishing until 6am. So will be driving back and forth with heavy snow - oh the fun.

Got an email today from agency about last nights job. Someone has damaged the light cluster on the puddle jumped I was in yesterday and ‘do i know anything?’ At the end of the shift, I had to leave it on an icy road. So I can only presume someone has slid into it. Email was at lunch - so maybe company man did it and is blaming agency dude. But it’s clear I’ll be blamed for doing it - which is rubbish.

Going to be dressing real warm tonight. Two hoodies and two pairs of socks - sod strapping pallets down at night in this weather.

You’ll regret not strapping when something goes over and you end up handballing the lot onto an empty pallet, strap it mate for your sake and everyone else’s, it will take 5 mins!

I meant it was a sod last night doing it and opening the curtains and unstrapping in the cold. Which is why I’m dressing like a michelin man tonight.

I wouldn’t be able to get away with not strapping this sort of load. It’s high metal pallets (10ft high) or ali parts. If one wanted to move it would go straight through the curtains. If I really couldn’t face the cold I’d have said no to the work. But it’s all good - I’ll crack on and think about the money in bank on night rate next friday.

I might put my scuba diving undersuit on…

That’s against VOSA rules mate! :imp:
However I heard in an rdc that it’s allowed only if you drive wearing your snorkel with it.
So don’t forget.
Always happy to help newbies. :sunglasses:

I finish my day tomorrow at 6am. By then I’ll have held my class 2 license for exactly 2 months. So hardly a newbie.

But as we are on the topic - do I have to wear a mask as well?

No 2 months.

People often think I’m on a windup when I ask questions on here. But they fail to remember I’ve had my license less than 2 months, I’m only part time and I’ve never had any training or mentoring apart from test training and initial cpc. I just jumped straight into agency and have always just been handed keys (well sometimes they make me sign for them).

But it’s been a good 2 months. I’ve enjoyed it for the most part. I’ve learned a lot. And I’ve earnt a couple of grand - which means it’s paid for itself back and nearly paid for class 1 already. And I’ve realized what sort of work I like and what I detest. I’m looking forward to class 1 training a lot - but I will stick with rigids for a bit. Last night I watched the older dhl drivers reverse into tight bays and there is no way I could do that. I’d trash the place.

Ok, you’re a seasoned veteran.
And Of course you have to wear the mask, you should know that with all your experience. :unamused:

That’s what everyone thinks before they get their license. Even if you do, there’ll still be a job at Stobrats for you.
