Got a call last minute from agency asking me to work. I said yes. Had to do a run to dhl jlr at Ellesmere Port. But they didn’t have paperwork for me. Promised they would email it over. Got here and no email. DHL line is down and minimum of 4 hour delay before i get tipped. Also 7.5t and no night heater. And to cap it off they didn’t give me a fuel card cos the tank was full. So i cant leave engine on to stay warm.
Did ask dhl people if I could sit in canteen. But it’s only for dhl staff and I need to stay in cab. Cold and miserable doesn’t come close.

MetOffice red warning for that area Dan, valid until 1000 tomorrow. They say their models are running in short time so they could extend it. They’re pleading for all journeys to be re considered.

I do have a down filled sleeping bag so I won’t die. But I think it’s grossly unfair to make me and the polish foreign lads sit in the ‘smoker bays’ when we could be sitting in a canteen.
My hours run out at 8.30am. If I’m not tipped by 3am I’m off. They said ‘minimum’ 4 hours. But priority loads and dhl drivers jump the line. Their line isn’t meant to be back on until after midnight. This will be my first big wait in my driving career. Buy my god it’s cold.

There is a artic tipper just down from my house in a Layby ,he’s got what’s left of a load of coke breeze frozen in and can’t load stone until the body is clean ,he’s shovel out a tonne when I stopped ,he’s got a broken night heater ,I felt for him thought may be id let him use my steamer after he’d finished fly tipping in my local layby then I saw where he had a dump and he admitted it with no attempt to cover it or move it ,at that I thought zb you and left him .

Have you got a phone ■■ If the answer to the simple question is yes, then ring the company that you are driving for AND the agency aswell, doesn’t matter what the F’ing time is and tell them what is happening./ They are in a nice warm mega-tog duvet covered bed and , as you say are freezing your nuts off. You said If I’m not tipped by 3am I’m off., sod waiting till then, get on the phone!!!

They are emailing paperwork through to dhl now. Promised they’d do it before I left but didn’t. Once I know paperwork is here I’ll start getting funny.
Then it’s either, quick tip, canteen, I use my credit card for fuel needed to stay warm (and the agree by email to pay this back ASAP) or im driving home.
I’m not kicking off right now as people are trying to fix things. With my driving record I can’t afford to alienate the agency at this point. Most on here are good drivers - im still very green and have made plenty of mistakes. So im not hot property in terms of a driver. Also im being paid the night rate to do nothing and post on here. Silver lining - but a thin one.
Also I have been on phone. To everyone apart from agency. I’m working for a company who are subcontracting to another’s company, and im delivering to a dhl site. So its complicated.
I have been listening to the BBC traffic reports from Lynn on the Ken Bruce show, I find it quite amusing, “Heavy snow, as much as 4 inches in places” said Lynn.
This Friday we are expecting up to 18 inches and I will still have to drive 400 miles in it.

Why haven’t you called the Agency, they are the ones employing you ? Get somebody out of bed FFS!! Unless you tell them what is happening at the actual moment, they wont put things into action for you.! And don’t give me the usual “I’ll talk to them tomorrow”. Now is when it needs sorting!!

Grow some, the company you’re driving for didn’t have the p/work ready before you left, then you get the promises it’ll be there when you arrive, it wasn’t. So THAT was the time when you should have started throwing a tantrum!!!
