Bamford. JCB.

What is the furthest overland destination JCB has ever had any machines transported to?
Who transported them?
Which overland destinations do they go to on a regular basis?
Have JCB ever said “No, We can’t send it there?”
and any other JCB/transport facts and figures Bamford can give us.
It could hopefully make an interesting read and an alternative to the usual mundane moaning.

I know someone who drove a jcb from london to malta.

Some things just have to be done.

Hear, hear.

Legend has it he pulled over twice to let the traffic past, and he’d got as far as Dover and thought “■■■■■■■■, I forgot the ditching bucket.”

Did he have a barrel of “red” in the front bucket like we used to do?

Couple of old car tyres attached to the legs.

Why do they do that? Do the legs not just poke though the hole?

The feet drop down onto the tyres to protect the road surface. Haven’t seen it done for ages though.

I guessed that was what was meant to happen but couldn’t see it working very well

Used tyres are now hazardous waste.

I know someone who is a builder/decorator. He has a very neat van with all his tools and equipment stored inside on proper racking. there is a place for everything and everything is in its place.

He was pulled over at a multi-agency check and a silly girl from the environment agency said she was going to prosecute him for carrying hazardous waste.

When he queried this, she pointed out that he had various nails, screws etc all stored in carefully washed plastic paint containers. These containers were ‘hazardous waste’, the girl said.

He told her to go and get a policeman and repeat the allegations in front of him.

The policeman told her she was a very silly girl.

I think JCB now has factories all over the world…I know there’s one in India.

I suspect many of the machines are exported as ‘knocked-down’ kits for local assembly.

There’s plenty of new ones that go to South America & Africa on a boat via Tilbury, Russia via Harwich and no doubt other ports all round our shores in addition to their other factories.

Do Hugely Expensive Services still do the “Dancing Diggers”? Also do they still have that white souped up 3CX on their roof?
