Axminster transport

Cliff luxton:
Thanks to Kerbut, Robert, Dennis, Dean, and Baldrick for your input. Must admit didn’t smell anything coming up the stairs Nigel. Robert your right about the steak at liposthey they were good , I quite liked the second restaurant past the first one turn right at cross roads and then up to the end of the road on the right hand side would always be open a little bit later . Dean great to see you back on here hope all is well with you ,Geoff asked me the other day if I had heard from you, I am struggling a bit with pics at the moment. Baldrick Miguels was another great stop unfortunately it is another one that has closed down the Alaska is still open though. This one has just opened again under new management didn’t have chance to stop and check it out.

Was that Cap de Pins, Cliff? Robert

No Robert unusual for yo to get them wrong but not really on your normal route, it is Yves, La Marine, better known as the fish restaurant at La Rochele. Are you going to Wessex show?.

Yes all good Cliff.

Looks brand new.

Good to see the Aire de Maran open again Cliff , when we drove by in January it was closed down and boarded up.

Alas, can’t make Wessex this year. I’ll find another excuse to visit West Bay though! Cheers, Robert

I think it was brand new there Dean, funny story about that unit ,it was on Morey’s DAF stand at the Bath &West show ,I went to pick it up on the Sunday morning at the show ground curtains all drawn on the unit . The guy from the DAF stand was there he said oh the girls from the stand slept in the lorry last night I will wake them up. Out came 2 dolly birds that had been doing the promoting on the stand.

Coatsgate it is, I knew it did not sound right when I typed it, the food was better than the surface of the lorry park!

141 looking good.

Since i know how you all like the Mont Cenis i found some nice pics that should bring back some
memories.

Great pictures of the Cenis a lot of us have many happy memories of transiting and stopping at the restaurant , and don’t forget the camaraderie that we all shared bet you don’t get that anymore . Good picture of the 141 Ian (jock) was driving it back in those days good lad , thanks for posting them Dean.

Yeah, great pics Dean…
I think if I’d have seen those pictures before heading up in the September fog , I might have paid the Blanc toll out of my wages! Happy memories of a real challenge back then.

As an aside, I stopped for a day or two by the lake on a trip down memory lane about 6 years ago… Plenty of trout to be had for tea there!
