Axminster transport

David Miller:
Evening Robert.
It just so happens that there is a really nice little digs in West Bay that would be very convenient for the Wessex Show. I am going to go and am thinking that if you were thinking of going we might stay in West Bay which would give us the opportunity for a couple of beers. Good scheme?

David

Absolutely first rate scheme! Give me a PM when you decide which night. Cheers both of you. Robert

Cliff luxton:
Be nice to see you both in West Bay.

Wonderful!

Do you remember ‘Five-pot’ (Cyril) off Breda? Bumped into him at Gaydon this weekend. Good old boy. Robert

That name doesn’t ring a bell with me Robert.

Cyril Gardner was his name. Last job he did down to Morocco from what I remember was driving John McFarlane’s DAF Superspace with Breda stickers on. Tall, thin chap - used to do M/E, then Central Asia ex-Croome. I always got on well with him as he was a level-headed sort of a bloke. Now lives abroad. Robert

Think it was before my time Robert , when I started on the job Wellard was driving John Mc Farlane’s lorry. There were some great blokes on for Breda Holland and England great times had by all.

You might remember later on a certain Dave Smith IIRC drove it! Robert

Hi Steve sounds like the Canadian transport ministers are as bad as the English trying to teach experienced drivers how to do the job from a classroom. The Leyland wasn’t a bad truck but it was a bit of a come down after years of Volvo, Daf and Scania. Pleased to hear you got a supply of nectar to your liking.I was lucky to end my driving day’s with this beauty.

Looking at Facebook it sems like Mr Bradfield may be enjoying himself in Tangier at the moment,I’m sure there will be a few brandy and cokes consumed. He is quite a legend in his own time.

Are we all going back on the road, customs and agents back in Poole docks, meeting all your driver friends at customs clearance in Irun, La Jonquera, Aosta, Villa Formosa . What a lovely thought.

Hi Cliff , I’m sure there are a lot of us on this site who would agree with your comments . Not quite sure about Buzzer but suppose he would as well providing he could listen to the Archers . Wonder how long we could make 1 permit last for these days . Start back for uk tomorrow take care Dennis
