Lenny, that 15spd Fuller, I’m sure they’re a 5spd with range change as is normal, but the splitter only worked on the bottom 5 rather than the top 5. I’m sure that was a box designed for heavy haul, so the extra low gears would make sense. Is that what they used up in SF?

Yes, that’s the one for Australia, in Finland they fitted normal 13 sp single overdrive used in Sisu trucks. Somewhere in the internet I saw an 140 for sale in Australia that had 5X4 or 6X4 twin stick Spicer!

All good interesting M/E info getting onto the thread lately !! What type of grease did you use on the turn table ■■

Greta stuff Keith. Please keep this up. Obviously us old timers had it too cushy!

I’ll just mention in passing, the Iraqui military convoys in the early 1970’s through Kurdistan which were regularly shot up and at one time I had a couple of bullet holes in the tilt to prove it!

Keep up the blog . These new routes are really interesting.

I thought there was a ferry across the Med to Israel or can that only used for empty returns?

Salamis Lines used to sail from Pireaus to Limasol then onto Haifa in Israel I think it was, I used to do the odd trailer out of Piraeus & load in Italy then drop it back in Piraeus for them, Steve Partridge used to do it full time.

Thats probably the one your thinking of jazzandy, I think some of the roundtrippers used to come back that way but I believe the transit of Israel with cargo is a no no heading east.

The Thief will fill you in I’m sure…

Dodge bullits( Keith the Thief) try driving through Basra with shells flying over your tilt there was a War between Iraq and Iran but maybe you dont remember that one

Another war instigated by the USA after the Shah got deposed. I remember being parked up in Um Qasr with shells going over all night and so will NtC wherever he is…RDF

We were setting up the. British pavilion at the Baghdad international fair when that war broke out.

During the night the Iranians bombed the German pavilion. We were so upset!
