This is the real bull manure, have you ever been within 200 miles of a real live weapon being fired in anger?? obviously not as you’d know that the last thing in your mind is to get out your ‘Instamatic’ so you get a lovely picture for some ‘doubting Thomas’ on a forum in England, get real!!!

8 posts, so you’re fairly new here, so how about putting something of interest up on the thread, it is fine to have an opinion, but if you don’t post anything constructive, informative, entertaining or relevant yourself, then you don’t really have much to shout about do you :bulb:

Maybe Mr Thief was being a little tongue in cheek, but look back through a few pages, you’ll see eveidence of (him and others) running through Syria in recent times, so it is really happening and there really are people shooting at lorries, just the same as they have been in almost every generation of M/E drivers since the mid 70s :open_mouth:

Yes, Keith keep up the posting and get the sausage to post his progress too. I am only reading about the troubles at the minute and dependant on the printed media is how we get our news.

Yitzhak Shamir died yesterday and depending which obituary I read he was a terrorist, warmonger, saviour, peacemaker, loving father or ■■■■■■■■■■. The day before said Syria was already at war, other newspapers suggest Syria is being attacked from the west :open_mouth:

lots of the cafes in north london herts borders (were i live) are owned by turks im friendly with a few of em and they all tell me the same the turk forces have massed in the antakaya reyhanli region the cafe owners say something big is gona happen lets wait and see by all accounts 5 syrian choppers have flown in to turk air space the turks aint letting it happen again i wouldnt want to be the pilot with a dodgey compass lol phil recons the egyptians are robbin barst…s he want to the boss man in the end il try it that way and see the economics of it you dont know till you try

Keep your head down Mister Thief and the updates coming  .

Funny how I thought exactly the same, or it wouldn’t be the first time Phil has forgotten his login :stuck_out_tongue:

geoffthecrowtaylor:
Well, well life continues to amaze me it can only be stupidity or greed or both why you lot are still doing this inane thing. No doubt we will hear soon that the boys from Hereford have mounted a rescue op to save you. Will read about you in the Daily Liar. Fond regards Crow.

Hellooo Geoffery, it’s called adventure, you remember that word don’t you, you can either go looking for it but sometimes it comes looking for you  . Keith and his mates are like many of their fore fathers (and another bunch of convicts) who ventured far and wide and kept an Empire ticking over. Most drivers like Fred and myself used to squat down between the axles armed only with a roll of Andrex  .
I hope your move is going well Geoff.

Regards Steve.

P.S. Of course Malc, I forgot about The Burpin :unamused: .

keef if you could survive friday night in the OLD vine you will be alright good luck

Well Keith seem to have stirred things up abit ,not doubting your motives mate just thinking about the viability.Incidentally we operated from 1974 until 2009 all the trucks belonged to us and of course they broke down from time to time but we repaired and towed our trucks our selves no International rescue and none were ever abandoned. We were also present when the Iraquis were fighting the Iranis not that we were in Iran but in Iraqu none of our motors ever went to Iran.I know Gary Lyons very well and Brmmie chauffer Dave and young Phil Paul Brooks and john Cooper et al but not you but you never know there s maybe time before the FSA or the Gyppos get you .Stay lucky Gute Fahrt regards Crow.Mushroomman. Hello Steve not quite correct mate, most of your Aussie forefathers if you have any were not there by choice, however they and their descendants seem to have made a real success of Oz.Don t know who loose wire is but you know the problems with loose wires they cause short circuits or blow fuses as on 154 feel sorry for the guy only 8 posts and getting all that Flak we all start somewhere . Been talking to Brooksy and Corrie for about an hour on Skype today .Corrie is not very well and Brooksy who is just back from berlin is spoon feeding him. Lets wait for the next input on our heroes tales of derring do, Catch you later Steve regards Crow.

I was en route to Baghdad when I was working for Jeffrey, and I had inherited an F12 from the Poisoned Dwarf.
Anyway, halfway across Germany and the engine is getting real sick,so I pulled onto a service area in Bavaria and stripped the engine, but there was not much I could do with ,it wanted major surgery.
I got her running again after a few days so I 'phoned Jeff to tell him I was mobile,so he told me to carry on.
I said but Jeff,while I’ve been here,there’s a ■■■■■■■ war started in Iraq!
He said don’t worry mate,it’ll be finished by the time you get there!
The engine was so bad I called in a Volvo agent in Graz and had to have a complete engine rebuild.
To cut a long story short,I got to Baghdad, got robbed while I was tipping,so went into Thomas Cooks office in the middle of town to draw some money, when the Iranian Air Force came over at low level with machine guns rattling.
They only succeeded in shooting the roofs off a few mud huts, but I was glad to get out and on the way home.

Steve,

Roger or Phil interesting choice

Hello Geoff, I am very sorry to hear that Ken is not so well at the moment, please give him my best regards and I hope that this old photo from Roy The Boy cheers him up a bit. I don’t think that Ken has seen this one before which might of been taken on the ferry across to The Harem (not sure) hopefully he will remember it. Young Ken is on the right by the way with Roy on the left along with Ken Bates and his wife Ute.
I am sure that Ken Bates drove to the Middle East in the seventies with Carman’s and I think he told me that he also worked at Jones’s of Aldridge. Did Ken remember that incident with the washing up liquid by the way  .

Regards Steve.

Well Well its gone quiet again ,ive just located my triang red fire engine truck is been buried in the garage for 40 odd years ,im going to give it a new lease of life ready for Gaydon next year ,saw one on antiques road show sold for a tidy sum ,I might even drive it there in the steelboys convoy      as long as nobody shoots at me on the M40 with a potato gun, need to re-chrome the bell so all you ME drivers can move over

When Teheran was bombing Baghdad back in the mid-eighties; as an act of kindness to his drivers, Fred Archer arranged for his Baghdad loads to be trans-shipped onto Turkish trucks in Istanbul. Hammonds had an office in Istanbul and were in charge of finding the Turkish Trucks. I sat for 10 days in the TIR parking at the Harem Hotel before some guys from Adana agreed to do the job. There were about 8 of us waiting; including Mickey Butler and a couple more from Pan Ex, so the Ef-Es control got completly out of control. Maybe Jazzandy can remember who was the Englishman in Hammonds’ Istanbul office?
