fly sheet:
Heres a couple more old long distance men.
Mickey “Trotter” Bashford
Big Kris “The Viking” Kristiansen
Hoss
Bob The Drug
J’Lo
Alex & Laurel
Hullo Flysheet, Where on earth did you get all that crowd together ? I knew most of them there at one time. Really good to see how we all have matured over the time, certainly Fred, Mickey Bashford Nd Hoss. Although I did see Hoss at George Ginn’s funeral last year. Kris looks well too. Great stuff mate, have you any more ? Cheers, Archie.
whats freddie up to these days john boy?
Just looking through some pictures from a do I had a few years back Archie, I’ll see what others I have tomoz…
I think Fred just works round London Paul, I am bad & have’nt spoken to Him for a while, I have heard He’s ok though…
he his one funny geezer taught me a lot in a very short time, diamond geezer!
I knew Freddie Noble , In 75 he topped an MAN that was abandoned in Turkey on it’s first trip by one of the top drivers of the day who operated from Langley Slough, when Fred got it home it went into MAN’s at Merton SE London to be checked over and made roadworthy, it was owned by a lease company (GATX) who I purchased it from and that started my ME adventure, some time later I mentioned to Fred that I had got a letter from the M.O.Transport that they wanted my rig weighed so he helped me by offering a skeletal trailer that was parked up in the old good’s yard at Brentford, Great - so off to the weighbridge and all went well so I contacted Fred and asked if I should put the trailer back where it was and he replied just put it anywhere you wish as he didn’t know who owned it - Thanks Freddie Noble - Hope you are keeping well mate. memories eh?
I could listen to Fred all day long & had to sometimes!! He comes at the job from a different angle to most & theres always a giggle to be had about things, He taught Me a lot & how to laugh in times of impending disaster…

My Grandads nickname was funeral Harry, as he used to turn up at all the local funerals for a bite to eat and a chat. Sadly I fear this nickname could be passed to Roger.
You do a great job Roger keeping everyone informed of these sad losses.
Next week I am juggling three funerals up in Yorkshire, sadly all people younger than myself.
Anyone know any of this bunch photographed on the Galata floating bridge in Istanbul in 1974 after a fish lunch?
My notes say they are Eric, Barney, unknown, Colin and Kemal Hussein.
I was driving for Freightlanes ‘The Driving force for Industry’ at the time. The company was owned by Charlie Drake’s “pension fund”!!!
Sorry previous post did not download poroperly.
Here is the full photo including the legendary Kemal who was driving for Micky Fitzel at the time.

Hello Geoff, I don’t suppose that you could fossick around and find the name of the Greek/Cypriot guy from Prestwich who had a few trucks running down to the Middle East in the seventies/ early eighties. I asked this question a few years ago and nobody came back with an answer, I do remember that Dave Hammond did a couple of trips for him in the early eighties.Regards Steve.
